  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Like the horoscopes, I can identify with each one to the same degree of accuracy. I re-took the test since becoming a mom and am now considered an introvert. True. I used to be very social and things when going out (and actually went out, socially, quite a bit), even for something like groceries or whatever. I would talk to almost anyone. Now I'm even more focused when I'm out and about, I really only pay attention to others to preserve the safety of my little guy and myself. I'll socialize, but definitely not to the same extent. In some ways, I could care less. I don't know how to feel about that.

Well you should be able to identify with several of them....There's other types that share the exact same functions as you, but just have them in a different order.

Generally for me its INTP and ENTP...They both use the same functions, but slightly different order, so it makes sense.

These tests are a little inaccurate - if I remember my Psych notes correctly, the actual definition of introversion and extraversion is that the former is "recharged" by alone time, whereas the latter is recharged by time with others. It's quite possible for an introvert to end up being the life of the party or an extravert to be rather shy.

I'm technically an introvert in the sense that when I really need a break, I prefer to spend time alone. However, I'm outgoing, loud, often the centre of attention (though I don't actually desire that), and can rarely say no to a social outing. So according to these tests, I'm an extremely pronounced extravert, but according to my Psych courses, I'm an introvert. So I usually call myself an extravert for the sake of simplifying things, but remind myself that I need to spend enough time by myself to keep myself going.

I don't really like how the tests measure introversion/extroversion either.

Just my opinion, but I see introversion/extroversion as more than just how you handle socialization. It also has to do with where you seek stimulation. Introverts look within themselves for stimulation, their own thoughts and feelings. An extrovert looks for external stimulation. So it ties into socialization a bit...Parties and gatherings are external sources of stimulation.

I know very, very few people who can socialize and socialize and socialize and not get drained. Even my most extroverted friends, ESFP's and ESTP's (which tend to be the most extroverted extroverts) need downtime. Thats why I don't like using socialization as the sole gauge for extroversion. I don't think its very fair or accurate.

I identify with 7, but I am pretty close to split on N/T S/F.

I recharge by being alone which is why I'm camping/fishing for a holiday in summer and wanting to go to a quiet tropical island next year. It's why when my car was on the road I would just get in it and drive for several hours so I could think, or not think.

I don't think the MBTI is particularly accurate. My answers would vary depending on specific real life situations, and sometimes "both" or "neither" would be more realistic responses. As it stands, some of the composite descriptions appear to contradict my answers on the test. For example, I'm an extremely strong N on the S/N scale. The description of intuition resonates with me, and I rarely get more than a point or two for sensation. However, I can relate to certain aspects of particular S composite types. I also have more in common with the INTP and INFJ descriptions than I do with INFP or INTJ descriptions. Were it not for the fact that I identify more easily with the former than the latter, I might call myself an INXX... but it's not so simple. Jung was onto something, but I think Myers and Briggs stretched things a little too far.
