  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have very conflicted feelings about this. They were obviously looking for a dangerous terrorist and I fully support that effort, yet they didn't know exactly where he was and searched homes without a warrant, scaring innocent civilians in the process. There's a fine line between searching carefully and declaring martial law and removing people forcefully from their homes.

This shouldn't have even been an issue, especially with reports coming out that the FBI knew about these guys back in 2011. I'm tired of our country not taking Islam seriously and refusing to monitor those who show tendencies toward carrying out violence in its name. It's time to get our heads out of the sand and start taking a hard look at what's going on. We'll never be able to stop this evil completely but some of these attacks could be prevented if we'd actually keep a close eye on suspected terrorists and the many cells we have operating within our own borders.

You know what...no...it's not nice. It's not fun. It seems harshly done. But they had a job to do. They did their job whether we like it or not. I stayed up till all hours on Friday night and hundreds, if not thousands of people in MA lined the streets of Watertown, clapping, singing, hooting and hollering, thanking the police and all involved for the job they did. No more civilians or police were hurt...at the end of the day, that is what matters. Do I think their tactics were a bit extreme? Sure. But they have to be emotionless, they have to do their job quickly and effectively and that may have been the easiest way to deal with it, with no muss no fuss from people.

If it's to track down a serial killer or terrorist supposedly lurking in the neighborhood, guess what? GO AHEAD AND SEARCH MY HOUSE. I'll gladly step outside with my family for the few minutes it would take to just run through my house top to bottom. Just think, if it were illegal for them to do this, how EASY would it be for criminals to hole up in someone's house, possibly taking them hostage, and NEVER be found? If a terrorist had a gun to your child's head and ordered you to open the door and tell the police everything's fine, you'd be OK with that? The whole point of this sort of exercise is to 1) find the criminal and 2) protect the community. A few minutes of being scared, shocked, and inconvenienced is worth it to me. They aren't violating my rights, IMO.

I understand the urgent need to stop dangerous terrorists and criminals that commit atrocities like the Boston marathon bombing. That being said, there is NEVER an excuse for the violation of the constitutional rights of American Citizens.

They could have explained the situation to the people and asked for permission to search, and I'm sure any rational person would have given consent. But what they did was a gross violation of the 4th amendment.

"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security." ~ Benjamen Franklin

I'm glad they caught the scumbag though.
