  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Corporate Squirrel

One Monday morning I looked out my window
Onto the green grass of the lawn below
Upon it a squirrel was cracking a nut
He flipped his tail and showed me his butt

I was confused about what I should do
Should I scare away an animal that I hardly knew?
Somehow that didn't seem like it would be right
After all, the little suckers can put up quite a fight

I walked out the front door into the morning sun
A beautiful day to get some work done
My car was waiting in the driveway over yonder
When suddenly I spied something that left me bothered

The squirrel had perched himself atop my car
With a look of mischief on his face and eyes of war
I stood still, not knowing what to do
This could be dangerous and deadly too

I edged closer as softly as I could
The invalid creature remained just were he stood
Eventually I arrived at car and turned the key
All while the angry squirrel kept a wary eye on me

I crept in and quickly locked the door
Feeling relief that the wild animal would bother me no more
That was when I realized I made a crucial mistake
The window was rolled down and the squirrel made a break

He rushed in as I began to pull away
And we battled inside the car all along the freeway
Until at last I pulled into my space at work
A squirrel attached to the collar of my shirt

He ate my pencils and chewed up my pens
A nightmare that I thought would never end
Until during lunch I grew inspired
By asking HR to have the squirrel fired

They said I would have to fill out a form
And about 100 more because that's the norm
At last I decided upon a plan that was quite mean
And crushed the poor creature in the copy machine
