Here is a poem that I wrote in response to the discovery of the bodies of two girls that lived in my area I knew who had been kidnapped in January and March by the same man, and murdered.
It hit us all very hard, and I use poetry to get my feelings out.
The gentle soothing whisper of a floating butterfly,
The radiant golden splashes of a cheerful evening sky,
The peaceful lulling purr of a cat softly dozing,
The dazzling untamed fervor of the jungle's lion king.
To be part of such a world is a stunning privelage,
But to be worthy of it's Maker is one we have not yet reached.
So unfortunately there is a part of this great place,
That remains void and empty of sweet Amazing Grace.
And often on the innocent it dares to give a try,
Leaving overwhelming sadness and the throbbing question-"Why?"
And soon or not the pain will dull though no better we feel,
We feel as if we've been crushed with a cruel evil heel.
But there is a way to shed this feeling that we have been robbed,
Just lift your eyes to Heaven and have a personal talk with God.
