  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pleasing Words & Hearts

Psalm 19:14 May the words of our mouthes and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer.

These words are often used in worship, or as a prayer, or sometimes before a sermon is delivered. The request is made that the sung, silent, or spoken words of our hearts be acceptable to God. That's a prayer, of course, that only God can grant. When any of us read God's Word, praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can believe that God will accept and bless the thoughts it prompts us to think and the words it prompts us to speak.

The closing address to God in a way sums up the whole psalm. God is revealed in nature as our Rock - strong, solid, powerful, dependable. God is revealed in Scripture as our Redeemer - personal, loving, rescuing and restoring.

We give you thanks, O God, for this psalm and for the light and truth we receive from it. Guard each of our words and hearts, let them reflect Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, take our hearts and hands,
And grant us this,we pray:
That we through Your sweet love may grow
More like You day by day.
