  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Walk with me a while
Away from bitter spite
I need a Christian friend
To guide me back to Light.

Walk with me a while
Together we may find
Where peace has made a home
And love will free each mind.

Walk with me a while
Through this darkness
Of voices that are cruel
Their powers are so heartless..

Please walk with me a while
Let's find a quieter path
Our Lord will join us there
To cleanse away all wrath.

Who would walk with me a while?

This sentiment reminded me of a favorite song of mine that I find reassuring:

4 Him - Where There is Faith

I believe in faithfulness
I believe in giving to myself for someone else
I believe in peace and love
I believe in honesty and trust but it's not enough
For all that I believe may never change the way it is
Unless I believe Jesus lives

(chorus)
Where there is faith
There is a calling, keep walking
You're not alone in this world
Where there is faith
There is a peace like a child sleeping
Hope everlasting in He who is able to
Bear every Burden, to heal every hurt in my heart
It is a wonderful, powerful place
Where there is faith

There's a man across the sea
Never heard the sound of freedom ring
Only in his dreams
There's a lady dressed in black
In a motorcade of cadillacs
Daddy's not coming back
Our hearts begin to fall
And our stability grows weak
But Jesus meets our needs if only we believe

(chorus)
Where there is faith
There is a calling, keep walking
You're not alone in this world
Where there is faith
There is a peace like a child sleeping
Hope everlasting in He who is able to
Bear every Burden, to heal every hurt in my heart
It is a wonderful, powerful place
Where there is faith

"Something beautiful, something good,
Through all my confusion He understood.."

I just can't remember the rest of this.
but it ends:

"And He made something beautiful of
my life...."

Sometimes He just smiles and blesses me with Senior Moments.

:help:

Beautiful song.

It goes

Something beautiful
Something good
All my confusion
He understood
All I had to offer him
Was brokenness and strife
But he made something beautiful of my life

Wonderful, I am grateful for this. My favorite little niece used to sing this to me when she thought I needed to be "more cheerier" and her little voice was so soft and sweet.

She is much older now.

Hope this is not derailing my own thread, since I would like to change it (or add to it) into one of those getting to know me threads.

If any member has any question or anything they would like to know about me, please ask me here. If this thread gets lost again, I will start a new one that more clearly shows what it is.

Ask me anything and I will answer with all honesty. Then, I may ask you about something. All answers are voluntary.

But all questions and answers need too be in the spirit of good will and sincere. To those I shall answer.

I request only one thing in earnest. Please, regardless of the post, do not report any one from this thread.

Allow me to answer or reply in my own way. Simply ignore anything not posted in fellowship.

I will begin by stating that I am a consevative Christian.

Looking forward to getting to know the members here.

Oh, almost forgot, in the spirit of openness, I have now allowed viewing of all my posts. Please check me out in my profile page, and ask me about anything of interest there, too.

Well, I must log off for now. So many places to go and chores that need me.

Please feel free to post questions here in the assurance that I shall return.

Alright, here I am as you've requested. Now, how did you make out with the Passion of the Christ? Was that movie too violent for a Christian movie or was the violence and gore in that movie okay, because of the subject matter being presented?

Husband and I cannot afford going to movies, not for years. And the only copy I could lay hands on was from the library.
As you know, all the cast spoke in Aramaic.
Turns out the video cassette I got happened to be subtitled only in Spanish.

Not understanding much more in Spanish than vaya con Dios and enchiladas and frijoles, I have no idea what the dialogue meant.

Now, does that tell you anything? Like, it was just a film, made by a movie star who is Australian, and knew how he wanted his movie made. It wasn't my idea.

I have seen many other films about Jesus and, being 63, like all the old ones much better. The only real problem I have ever had is the ones where Christ's eyes were very, very blue. Light blue.

Christ in the Passion looked more like the Jews of that day. But the color of Christ's eyes changed with the film and the producers and directors.

So, then, Mel Gibson produced his own ideas about the ordeal of the Messiah.

My own feelings about Christ and about His sufferings are very private to me.

Every person with eyes can view films.
That's a lot of people, what my own feelings about anything are of no matter nor importance.

So I am very flattered by your interest.
Just ask me about anything.

I loved The Passion of Christ movie. There were times when I had to cover my eyes because it hurt sooo much to see the torcher and pain and blood that the film showed. I think the movie came the closiest of showing us exactly what Jesus had gone through on behalf of our sins and to the forgiveness of those sins.

I've always enjoyed your posts Latreia. Are you married and do you have children and if so, how long have you been married and how old are your children.

You are a blessing and a dear sister in Christ to me.

That movie doesn't want you to see it
Rather it pulls you and takes you through
As authentic as it is.

"what my own feelings about anything are of no matter nor importance."

Actually they are of importance since in the "worst movie ever" thread you, to paraphrase, basically said that today's movies are too violent and an assault upon your faith. That's why I asked the question about the level of violence in the Passion. Was it too much for your tastes? A question that you still have not answered and from what I see won't answer. It's a yes or no question. But you've made it clear that you have no intention of answering it, so I'll be on my way. Bye.

Thing is, movies are only a part of the modern media. Essentially, regardless of the subject matter, all the messages are filtered through human minds and usually, for the sake of amassing some money.

All the films that I enjoy are for the sake of entertainment only. But what entertains me is what my mind can accpet and I have standards for that activity.

What puzzles me are those who want to say that God does not exist and Christianity is based on myth and the writings of mere men then avidly play video games and are devoted to movies with fictional characters of super powers who kill all their enemies in various and ugly ways.

Such are also prone to devote themselves to violent and sadistic horror movies, and the more suffering and agony to people, especially women, and most of all adolescent girls, or even children being terrified through any device that is perversely evil.

The producers of this stuff hardly care about the value of human life and just naturally assume that if their films make money, the public is sending them signals to make more films just as awful and also escalate them further.

I just don't think that is very good.

How would the Apostles talk to us online?

Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Apostle's letters online:

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

You crack me up. You know this is going to be the final straw to prove I am crazy.

But seriously, folks. what do I actually have to lose?

These verses from Corinthians II and from Galatians were what I was reading yesterday.

As you know, I was in the truck waitng for George to come back from helping a new friend on his property. Parked with a nice little view of the woods and listening to my favorite music, 17th century.

Ennyhoo, I just looked around at the trees and little plants and flowers on the ground, at the trees who were contemplating what autumn colors to wear, and listening to the wind blowing peacefully all around.

At that point, I had a vision of the true comfort to the soul which God offers instantly to one who knows the source of all life and all beauty.

What would people want to make such a mess of so beautiful a faith? It is just so simple and good. And I began to think about things like the history of Christmas and all those who lived years and years ago.

I thought of their joys and delights which took so many forms and were then melded into their faith and their churches.

Back in many historic periods, life was just so very grim and full of awful suffering and constant losses. The few times when they could find some reason to celebrate and lift their spirits were naturally seized upon with great joy.

That Will to Joy was so strong in the worst times and delight was so rare and precious that who could possibly look back and begrudge them of it?

Why would anyone begrudge happiness in those who are filled with gratitude, kindness, and praise for God?

Why would people so begrudge those who have lived and loved their Holy Bibles, found solace in a dark, cruel world, and practice faith and hope?

All good things belong to our fellow human beings, how could the sources become such targets of contempt and attack?

Today, there does not seem to be as much Will to Joy as there is the Will to Deny.

Praise God, that Jesus Christ offers us the choice of the Will to Joy.
