  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To give a bit of info on my background: I am a guy who grew up in a Christian family. It wasn't until the age of 17 (two months to my 18th birthday) that I truly accepted Jesus. Before that, I don't remember much of my former life other then that I was an extreme porn addict, so sexuality and its pre-marital problems still haunt me on a day to day basis. It wasn't until two months ago that God became my top love in life.

For almost 4 years now, I have been courting the loveliest of girls. I love every moment I can spend with her. We hold hands while we drive in the car ( though sometimes we also hold hands when walking in the park, but rarely ). We've hugged a few times, but stopped doing that for a while now, which helps me ( if not her also ) control myself. Never kissed, thats holding off for marriage. I love her, as much as Jacob loved Rachel, with the past 4 years flying by in the blink of an eye. That is how much I love her. She says she loves me too ( for about a year and a half now ), and you know what, I believe in her.

My main thing and request is this. Her mother doesn't like me. My relatives frequently now hear open remarks from her mother in church about basically how much of a loser I am.

I was going for a nursing degree, but had to drop out because the degree was not working for me. I chose now instead to switch over to a computer technology degree, which is in fact my hobby, passion, and talent in life. People in church ( church of 150+ members ) constantly brings their computers to me to fix and clean. I also dropped my job and now work at Circuit City for the same pay I got as a CNA in a hospital.

Her mother constantly speaks out about me, how her daughter could find someone better. It's very disheartening, and sad when Christian's stoop down to this level, it breaks my heart.

I ask that you all pray for me in this troubled time. Not for her mother to stop or my own parents to stop ( for in hearing these things they are doing no better ), but for God's will to be done in the best way and how he wants it to be done. I wonder why God would give me such a great love for this girl, but God is God and his Will is all in all.

Pray for me. Pray for the girl I love. Pray for our relationship. Pray that if it is God's will for our relationship to continue, that it continue by his will and not my own.

Amen.

Thank you.

I pray that the Lord gives you strength to do His will. I pray that you never stray from His path. I pray that He gives you the strength to deal with the comments. I pray that He shows you what needs to be done. I pray for this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
