  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey, I was wondering if everyone could pray for me? My first day of college is Monday and I'm really nervous. I'm still going to be living at home, so, I'm not sure why I'm so scared. Also, could you pray that this year goes well for me? One last thing, is there anything I should know about college before going? Also, how much daily should I study? Advice and prayers will be appreciated.

Well good luck. Really you have nothing to worry about though. You are doing the same thing I did. I went to a commuter college for three years and know am living on main campus.

A couple points of advice. You should study two hours for every one hour you are in class. Sometimes that is a lot though. Also, never procrastinate! NEVER! I can't emphasie that enough. Good luck, and I'll be praying for ya!

How long should you study? For every moment of your life that you don't spend in class.

Joking, obviously. But it would be valuable for you to take the spirit of that joke seriously. Believe it or not, studying diligently usually takes away a lot of stress, because when the test rolls around, you don't feel unprepared. Other than that, just show up for class, go easy on the alcohol (or abstain, if you don't feel responsible and/or are still underage), make friends, and join a club. You should be fine.

Oh yes, one more thing. If you're planning on going to grad school, it'd be good to get to know some professors now. Like most people, I made the mistake of not doing this until my junior year, and now I'm scrambling to get ready for the application process. Well, good luck, and you have my prayers.

Good luck :) Relax, keep smiling, talk to people, and you'll be absolutely fine! As for studying, just keep on top of it, is my advice - follow your professors' guidelines, do you required reading in plenty of time and 'read around' the subject if you need to, until you understand it. This is a great time in your life, so enjoy it. I'll pray for you.

Monday is my first day of college also and I'm scared to death... I'm also not gonna be leaving home, but yeah, I'm still petrified... So, I will pray for you, if you will pray for me :)
