Macrina, I have served as a Deacon in my own chruch for a few years now. I know first hand that dealing with problems withing a congregation is not an enjoyable task at all. I am reminded of the following verse. When the congreation does not submit to it's leaders, it definitely is a burden. Praying for you and this situation, Macrina.

Heb 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Confronting people is an interesting part of being a pastor, don't you think? I mean, I know that accountability and loving confrontation are things that all Christians likely need to do at certain points, but I think a special responsibility falls to pastors in this area. This incident has made me very aware of what God has entrusted to me by calling me to be the shepherd of this flock... some weighty things, some difficult things -- some things I pray I will be able to approach with wisdom and discernment...

a copy of " Woman , Thou Art Loosed ... by bishop Jakes " ; a kind note bespeaking grace , mercy , and reconciliation via Matthew 18.15-21 [ restoration discipleship ]
" not like you " , concerned about you , what is the matter .... how can we resolve this ... and if all fails , you have done your job ( ezekiel 3.18-24 ) , start intercession with Lord of the Harvest , for her " heathen soul " ...

Macrina, you have said something that many of us need to hear:

......I am just trying to be a comfort now.

Offering comfort is hard at times -- especially when the comfortee has been a pain. However, through that one line you have demonstrated your character both as a Christian and as a church leader. The way that I see it, we are called to 2 things -- to share our faith with non-believers and to live with the heart and mind of Christ. I hope that I display Christ through my actions as well as you are. You remain in my prayers.

This situation brought to mind a few verses
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
