I would like to ask for prayers for me to find a good church when I move next week. I am moving 1600 miles away from home and know no one where I am going (I am moving for a job). I am looking for a church that is, of course, grounded in the bible. But I am also looking for a church where I can learn and grow.
I have not attended church in many, many years. I believe the last time I went was 2003. I was hurt very badly at my former church, where I was pressured to marry someone within the church. I didn't go through with it, and I was shunned - not literally, but in the "no one will talk to you anymore and you are not welcome" sense. This was a major stumbling block in my life, and I have spent several years angry at God and living it up in sin.
My brother-in-law, who was a devout Christian, recently died of cancer. He never once wavered in faith, even though he did not want to die (he had two little girls and a son on the way, along with a wife [my sister] whom he loved very much, and wanted to keep living for them). I have felt God using his death to bring me back to the fold in a big way. Still, I'm not all of the way there yet, and that is why I really need a supportive church family to help with my wavering, and painfully fragile, faith.
And that is why I am really hoping to find a good, solid church in my new town. Thank you for any and all prayers.
