I would like to ask for prayers for me to find a good church when I move next week. I am moving 1600 miles away from home and know no one where I am going (I am moving for a job). I am looking for a church that is, of course, grounded in the bible. But I am also looking for a church where I can learn and grow.

I have not attended church in many, many years. I believe the last time I went was 2003. I was hurt very badly at my former church, where I was pressured to marry someone within the church. I didn't go through with it, and I was shunned - not literally, but in the "no one will talk to you anymore and you are not welcome" sense. This was a major stumbling block in my life, and I have spent several years angry at God and living it up in sin.

My brother-in-law, who was a devout Christian, recently died of cancer. He never once wavered in faith, even though he did not want to die (he had two little girls and a son on the way, along with a wife [my sister] whom he loved very much, and wanted to keep living for them). I have felt God using his death to bring me back to the fold in a big way. Still, I'm not all of the way there yet, and that is why I really need a supportive church family to help with my wavering, and painfully fragile, faith.

And that is why I am really hoping to find a good, solid church in my new town. Thank you for any and all prayers.

dyanis, God surely hears the desire of your heart..to find a place of worship and fellowship grounded in His Word.

Trust in His guidance and keep praying.

You may have to search some and visit more than one before you settle. It is good to give most of them more than one visit. Some you may know right away though. I have been able to tell for sure usually by giving it five or six visits. True colors usually emerge by then; although no church is perfect. We moved here four years ago and visited three before finding just the right one. We gave each one more than one visit to be sure.

My prayers for you to be healed of all past hurts, that you can truly forgive those who shunned you, and that you'll find just the right church this time for you. :prayer:

Merry Christmas soon!

Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."

Thank you Kevin, Pilgrimgal, Remny, and Noel. :)

I really hope that I can find a good church. I have several in mind that I'd like to visit, all across the board. At least my chances of finding a church are good; there's 49 churches listed in a town of 19,000. :)

Sorry to hear of the loss of your brother in law.

Father God, comfort this one in her loss, heal her of past wounds associated with church members and reveal Your tender love and mercy. Show her that You love her and welcome her. Lead her to a church that will teach Your Word and one that she will feel loved in and accepted in, In Jesus Name, Amen
