Dear FullofFAith, Why can't you be a Christian now. Do you know the basics of the Christian faith, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and that God raised him from the dead you shall be saved.

Once you believe that you are sealed by the Holy Spirit and can not lose your salvation.

Yes I do know the basics of the Christian faith and was raised Protesant. In fact, I went to church every Sunday, went to Sunday School faithfully and was an Altar Girl in church.

I do believe in God and do believe that Jesus died for our sins; however, I still have doubts. I have doubts about the Bible. How do we know it is really true? Do we have proof?

Also, on the History Channel, I will hear about dinosaurs that were around 16 million years ago.....I thought the Earth hasn't been around that long. According to the Bible, God created the Earth and I understand that was about 6,000 years ago. So where were these dinosaurs at 16 million years ago??? That is very confusing and disturbing.

As I've gotten older I've started questioning my faith. When I was younger, I never questioned it and took it at face value. Now as I start to think more, I have questions and doubts.

I know my message here probably sounds a bit contradictory, but that is because I am confused and not sure what to think sometimes.

I'm not good when it comes to proof of things. Have never needed any. When I believed I knew God was true. When I read the bible sure there are questions but for whatever reason God chose not to put alll the answers there. If you need proof of things there are sights for that. Other where you are asking in the other forum may be more helpful. As for how old the world is, I don't know. But we know dinosaurs existed. I came by faith to Christ, and trust the bible as the word of God, as inspired by the Holy Spirit. It's by faith that I believe. I don't worry about things that I can not have the answers to. But you have the right to seek out these answers. Anyway, hope that helps, God Bless, ganaan

You might be surprised that while there are some that believe that there is a young earth (6000-10000 years old) there are also Christians that believe in an old earth and some even believe in what's known as Theistic Evolution as in this forum:

All I'm saying is that if your belief in God is hung up in origins theology, then you ought to examine every aspect. I honestly cannot believe that everything that exists came about by accidental random chances. Something had to have pushed us along. Something with intelligence. On the otherhand, I don't think everything can be explained through a literal six-day creation. The creation/evolution debate is a long and taxing one. And I have struggled with various issues and it is all a learning experience. But there hasn't been anything in evolution that has detered my not believing in God. I see God's hand in cosmology as well as molecular biology.

However, the varying opinions about the origin of life hasn't stunted my belief in God much. There are other factors personally cause me to believe as well as testamonies of others that reinforce the idea that there is a God that is active in our lives. You have to take all things considered.

I am standing with you all here that your desire, Full of Faith, in your heart would come to pass. It is there, you are asking and Jesus sees your heart. Lord Jesus, your word says that the angels rejoice more over one soul that is saved than 99 who are already. Another precious soul in need of a Savior. Thank you, Just4Jesus, for your prayers and support.

My husband and I were driving home from picking up dinner and I could have swore I saw a crucifix on someone's front lawn as we were approaching their house. However, it turned out to be just trees. What do you think about that?

Your sign that you are saved ought to be the promises of God who promises to save those who call upon His Name.

Im fairly new to all of this but the fact that you are asking questions tells me that already you are on the right road :) I had a million and one questions just before I became a Christian and I am not expecting them all to be answered, a lot of them were definately answered with prayer. I know what you mean about the earth and the dinos etc. because I thought that too. The way I look at it (and Im not saying anyone should look at it like this) but God created the earth as we know it now. I found an Alpha course really helped me and because of that I allowed God into my life a few years ago. I will be praying for you :pray: :hug:

Hi Full-of-Faith. THere's nuthin' wrong with questions. Keep asking. Know what? Moses had a lot of questions. So did many others in the Bible. And oh my goodness...what about Jacob? By golly he 'wrestled' with God..haha hey, questions are what makes us tick. WE are curious, and seeking kinda beings, we are. tHere ain't nuthin wrong with that.

Father in our questioning we just come to YOu. Although we are finite and limited. You are not. WE have limited vision and it's as if we see through a glass darkly. I pray for crystal clear clarity for Full-of-Faith. gRant her a glimpse of Who YOu are.....enable YOur Word describing YOu rejoicing over us with singing to become real to her. Show her why she seeks. may Your peace and YOur joy and YOur rejoicing be hers. GRant her YOur vision, in the name of YOur only begotten Son, amen.

Lucky me, I get to sit through biased science classes and have the same message pounded into my head: If there is a "god", he didn't have anything to do with the creation of the world, Emily. Now, let's get back to the discussion about how the Big Bang (notice the lack of the word theory) and evolution of animal life are interrelated..."

I don't buy into these theories, however. God didn't say too much about the creation of the world, so I'm just guessing it's not the main thing he wants us to focus on.

My faith doesn't hinge on things like the creation of the universe or what kind of sins I can commit and still get away with at Judgement Day. My faith relies on the things I've experienced. I'm not saying these questions aren't important, because I know they are the foundation for an always-curious, intuitive Christian. Just don't let them get in the way of the one thing your life and death depend on.

It' like the song that says, "sin has lost its power, death has lost its sting." The only way for me to be completely secure in my life after death is forgiveness. This concept is so important and profound to me that I choose not to let the trivial things get in my way.

I would like to share some of Paul's words of intercession unto God and pray in agreement with him.

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
