• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I think Vedants reply says a lot:
Tell her that you love her no matter what. Hug her long and hard. Cry with her if she cries, and let her vent her anger on you. Kiss her and tell her everything will be okay. She is so young, a kid, and she wants love, like any human. Listen to what she is telling you.

Now for me personally, I have had same sex attraction all my life. It is something I have to fight. I h ave been married 25 years and have felt this since I was 11. I grew up in an abusive home where my Dad felt like he could "paddle this canoe" until it steered correctly. It was discipline without love brings rebellion. He had the hard side of discipline down but was cold and unattatched. I also had incest happen when I was 12. My mother was scared of my Dad and I use to pray he would just die. My brothers have always been my moms favorites.

My Dad has gotten saved and radically changed but this still affects me all these years later.

I have been in lesbian chatrooms, contemplated lesbian sex and have also been in other chatrooms "looking for a Daddy that I never had". Childhood can really screw a kid up ya know.

We had a teen i know go to her youth pastor for counseling after she had had sex. His response? he ratted her and the guy out to their parents. So now the kids are playin gup to what the pastor and parents want to hear and actually both are lying to them. Things would have been much better had they just counseled the kids and allowed them to heal. As it is this will just repeat itself and no one now would consider going to talk to them.

i know this is gotten way off the original topic but the bottom line is this.

Love her, keep the lines of communication open and try to find what it is she is really looking for. As Paula White would say "The problem is never the problem".
