  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi. I have an assignment for a graduate research methods class in which I have to design a survey and distribute it.

I would be so grateful if you would take a few minutes to answer questions about what influenced you to become a Christian and your choice of church.

Just click on the above link to go to the survey.

It’s completely anonymous.

Thanks so much,

Janice

I have taken it, the last question mechanism is faulty, you can't answer the same 'level' for more than one question. Also it would have been helpful to offer an 'other' option for some questions. For example I did not answer the one about what is most important about my congregation because you hadnt listed it.

Your survey makes a lot of prior assumptions. I found I didn't know how to answer a lot of the questions because I didn't fit the assumptions so the questions were irrelevant to me.

For example, I don't believe I was ever "converted". I grew up in a Christian family, and as I grew to be an adult, I simply adopted my parents' beliefs as my own. I do not believe there was any point in my life where I was not part of God's family. So a lot of your questions don't make sense to me.

Perhaps you should say that your survey is targeted at people who have a conversion experience to talk about? Then I wouldn't have bothered taking it :)

Also, I find it awkward to rate my spiritual maturity skills. We just don't talk about things that way in my church, so the question seemed really odd to me. How can someone have moderate/advanced skills in prayer? How did you choose the short list of skills that you asked about?

Anyway, I suspect it's all just a matter of speaking a different dialect of "Christianese". Every denomination uses their own jargon to describe spiritual experience, and our vocabularies just don't match up.

Good luck on your study!
