  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Please help with retreat ideas!

Planning a weekend retreat in February for approximately 16 "young adult" (22-35) members of my church. Will run from Friday night until Sunday morning. Will rent a VERY large cabin in the mountains to truly get away and focus on our objective. Not looking for someone in the group to act as a "teacher" so we are looking for a good resource to aid in our study. Preferably something with a video but does not have to be. All in the group are christians and mostly husband / wife couples. Can anyone recommend something that would be a good resource (or idea) for this weekend that we could complete? Looking for something to really motivate and "charge our batteries". Thanks!

OK, this may not be what you are looking for, but I'll suggest it anyway as an activity to blow off some steam: An improv skit. You start by getting two people to act out anything they want. The rule is that they have to continue until someone yells "Freeze!" At this point, the two actors have to freeze, and the one who called "Freeze!" must take the place of one of the actors and commence action. The new plot can be a continuation of the old, but usually it is a spoof on the previous plot, designed to get everyone to laugh.

You may not be able to get this to work, but if you can, it is sheer comedy in action. :D
