• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Since I stumbled onto this forum, would anybody be so considerate and please help me find out if I am just suffering, people phobia, low self esteem, depression and anxiety or do I have borderline personaltiy disorder. I also get confused very easily, about criteria diagnostic regarding disorders. Diagnosis for dummies, these disorders are all finely linked and hard to tell apart.
I am fed up to here with therapy, cause when I asked to be diagnosed they say that is too harsh, why do you want to be put in a box?
Do I have specific phobia, social anxiety, general anxiety or panic disorder, they are so intertwined.

Hi there,
Welcome to Recovery :) Members and Staff are unable to tell you if you have this or that--- only licensed doctors may do that. For liability reasons, it would be very unsafe for a member to ask for a diagnoses online--- only a doctor in real life can tell you what is going on.

I know therapy isn't an easy route--- especially when you can't find a doctor you can connect to and who can be honest with you. But it's honestly the best and safest route to go. It can take years before a diagnosis is made, but please be patient and work with the doctor that you have--- or find a new one that is highly recommended.

God bless

Only a professional can diagnose you properly. On the other hand, as a Master's level student of psychology, I have some experience and knowledge of mood and personality disorders. Perhaps if you could list your symptoms, I could give you an idea of what I think may be going on.

But, my word is simply my opinion and you would have to seek out a professional to be sure.

I agree with the previous responses. You need a diagnoses from a doctor, not an online forum. However, if for some reason you don't trust your doctor or unsatisfied with the service and you're curious about BPD, I Hate You Don't Leave Me is an excellent book for purposes of gaining a better understanding of the disorder and criteria by which one is diagnosed.

I would tend to agree with your doctor though. Why would you want to be labeled? Does it matter what you call it as long as you receive help? I know it helps to make what you are feeling more tangible, but at the same time, it can be a crutch and many find themselves attached to such a label and it becomes their identity.

I hope you receive the help you need.

God Bless You!
