  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Montreal's boring if you're not into the nightclub scene.

Merci beaucoup Monsieur Pieman! Sorry, that's not a nice thing to say, don't you think? I'm an ex-Montrealer, now I live in Québec-Centre. I looove Montréal.

Bouncer, in Montreal there are zillions of things to do, trust me! Ask for info at a tourist information desk and you will wish you had come over for a whole week, at least!

For example, you have wonderful museums in Montreal, like the Pointe-à-Callières museum which is the site where Montreal is born, literally. Fabulous! There are many many museums, check them out! You can visit the Municipal building in Old Montreal. You can check the Olympic Stadium, the Biodôme, etc.

There are festivals all summer in Montreal. Check those out.

The restaurants are great!

Plus well, you're a Christian right, check out the hundreds of churches in Montreal. Montreal is known as 'la ville aux 100 clochers' - the city of a hundred church towers.

I promise you, you will not get bored in Montreal!

Good visit,

Caroline

I went to St Joseph's Basilica, and highly recommend it. Gorgeous. We didn't get a chance to see any of the other cathedrals though.

We climbed the mountain at night, which gave us a spectacular view of the sparkling city.

And definitely find yourself a place that sells real poutine! Nothing like it!

:)

word of advice though, try not to have to drive anywhere. I drove the first day and then insisted that we take the train on day 2, because driving there was so stressful (even WITH a GPS!).
