  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Walmart SuperCenters and some grocery stores give you a free mini cake for your kids first birthday. We got my son a freebie, a very small one, put it on a sheet, took his shirt off, and let him go to town. It was so much fun!

We didn't do a theme for the first one because he wasn't "into" anything yet. We got him presents but he just wanted the ribbons and things to play with. We did get him some stacking blocks which he LOVED.

Whatever you do, buy lots of film and if you take pictures that need to be developped, only take them to a one hour place. I took mine to the local Eckerd and they lost them. I am still sick about it and have only two pictures for his baby book.

That's sooo funny! We did my daughter's first birthday in Blue's Clues, too!! She loved it!! Anyways...I'm trying to remember what she got for presents....oh, yea, my uncle made her a wooden rocking horse, which she loved!! Also got her this little push-car, you can set it up to where they can either sit on it & scoot around (it has wheels), or you pull it up (the top) to where it clicks in place & they stand up & hold on to it, it helps them walk, they push it around. She really liked that, too. But she got money, too, & clothes. Be sure to take lots of pictures!!

If you're like me, you save everything, so just a hint for mommy...write down everything he gets & from who, that's what I did. And then I wrote Andie (my daughter) a letter about all the stuff that happened her first year, my hopes & dreams for her, etc., then saved it with her birthday cards, the list of gifts, the candle that was on her cake, and some other stuff from her first year. I did that at her 2nd birthday, too, I think she'll get a kick out of it when she gets older!!

Have fun!!

I decorated cakes so I'll be makeing the cakes, something I very much enjoy :D thanks for the tip though. I'm thinking about blocks but he has some now he don't play with. If we had a place for him to play out side I would get him a rideing toy but we don't :( so that makes it so hard. He isn't that facanated with boxes I thought he would but I gave him a box to play with and he looked at me like I was stupid and ignored it. He is already too advanced for his age which is good but then again hummm.

Oh wait! You know the Leapfrog line of toys? They have one for kids Seth's age, maybe a little older but since he's advanced for his age it should be fine...it's the frog, stuffed, & he's got like the alphabet on his tummy, stuff on his hands & feet, you turn him on & he teaches the ABCs & numbers, I think. Andie doesn't have one, but I got one for my girlfriend's little boy & she said he went crazy over it!!

Yes in his baby book it has a place for his first birthday to list what he got and all, I plan on saveing everything. I like the idea of the toy that teaches them how to walk.Good thinking. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks

Well, how about that "talking" book Leapfrog has? Andie got one for Christmas last year, she was 1 1/2 & really liked it. You stick the book in it (I think it comes with 1 but you can buy more) & set it to whatever level works for him, then he can push different things on the page & hear the words, sounds, etc. It's pretty cute.

My daughter just turned one and we've been buying her Peek-a-blocks. There are so many of them. Fisher Price just came out with the new activity cube to go with these and my daughter plays with it endlessly. We just found out that she is getting three more sets for Christmas.
