  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The best man holding the ring thread got me thinking. This could be an interresting topic or thread.
Just for fun, even if you are not engaged, who would you have in your wedidng party? Anyone in particular and why? And for those of you who ARE engaged, who have you asked and why have you asked them.
Also have you ever been in anyone's wedding??

As for myself, I think about this often, because one of the hardest things for me, is that most of my really close friends (with the exception of about 2) are all males. And of course I would want them in my wedidng somehow.

Anyways,
for the girls, my maid of honor would be Elise. My best friend. She is my sister and I lvoe her to death. I couldnt think of anyone else I would want to be there beside me on my wedding day. Regardless of where I get married, it will be a priority that she gets to be there with me.
My friend Mary Grace would be another one I would like in my wedding party. Probally as a bridesmaid.
And thats really about if for the girls. I have many femal freinds, but none close enough that I would want in my wedding. So then I would hope that either he has sisters that I can ask (assuming I get along with them really well and would even want them in my wedding) or he has female friends that he is really close with, and he would want to have in the wedding.

As for guys, it would obviously be my fiance's choice as to who is his best man. And for the most part his groomsmen as well. I have no brothers so he wouldnt have to worry about having them in the party.

I do have 3 really close male friends that I would possibly want in my wedding, Mike, Adam and Tim. But as much as I lvoe all of them, I know it would be VERY hard on Mike and Adam to see me get married, so I would probally only ask Tim. (Assuming My fiance allows me to have a say in 1 guy in the wedding poarty, and they actually get along hehehe).
This also all depends on if we even get married back home (assuming I marry someone that I met out here ;) )

I would want my dad to walk me down the isle for sure. Im not sure if I want my mom AND dad or just my dad. Its a pretty specual time when a father gts to walk his one and only daughter down the isle, and I would like it to be just the two of us. But my mom is so special to me, I would want her to be walked down the isle too.
Also, Iw ould love it if my fiance walked his mother down the isle before everyone. I was in my friend Shannon's wedding, and her fiance walked his mother down the isle and I loved it.

Anyways.... now its your turn :)

Obviously my best man would be my brother Tim - I'd have 2 groomsmen, but I have so many close friends that I would love to have involved in those roles. However since a few of them would be involved in different areas of the ceremony, it might make my choice easier. As for my fiancee's bridal party, it's entirely up to her. I do have 2 sisters, and if my fiancee was good enough friends with them, I wouldn't mind them being in teh bridal party :)

My best man would probably be my dad. I don't have a brother, and it would save me from having to choose between my friends. And I really look up to my dad, I have more respect for him than anyone else in the world, so it would be great to have him be my best man.
I would also love to have my three sisters in my wedding, but my bride would of course have a say in that.

Other than that, I have no idea.

I'm engaged.

I'm the youngest of 3 (I have 2 sisters) my middle sister Erin will be my MOH and my oldest sister Amy will be a bridesmaid. I will have my 2 life long friends Erin and Siobhan as bridesmaids too.

I was in my sister Amy's wedding Sept 04, my friend Erin's July 03, my friend Siobhan's July 02 and I was a flower girl in my cousin Dave's wedding in 87.

:)

I'm engaged.

My maid of honor is my best f riend Ally--we've been friends for 23 years. My bridesmaids are my two best friends from high school--we're still in touch--Christina and Jenn.

My fiance is having his friend Cassandra stand up for him as his Best Woman and two of his other good friends stand up as groomsmen.

We will probably ask my brother to be an usher... he isn't interested in being in the wedding party.

To be honest, I've never seen the point of bridesmaids and groomsmen - when I was engaged I had them for 'traditions sake', but this time I don't think my bf and I will have any. Our friends will be there to celebrate and support us anyway, so this just seems like another expenditure I can do without. My closest friend (and his) would be our witnesses, and that's more than enough pressure to put on my friends! I'll have another friend carry an 'emergency' bag with her during the photo shoot to make sure I have everything I may need (panadol, bandaids, tampons (God forbid), a snack, water, etc)...

My parents will not be walking me down the aisle (another thing I don't see the point of seeing I'm living out of home and am under God's authority, and not theirs anymore), so we will get our parents to stand up beside us at the beginning of the ceremony and we'll get our minister to offer a prayer of thanks for our parents support and raising of us, and the fact that they bless this marriage.

Yeah, I don't see the point of a bridal party really - the people I'd consider having will be there anyway, and this takes some of the pressure off of them!

I'd have my sister, Suzy as my matron-of-honour. I was her chief bridesmaid when she got married and it'll be so nice having her in mine :) My other bridesmaid will be my best friend Kirsty. I'm going to be her bridesmaid in 1 month too!! :D

I don't think I'd have any more than 2 bridesmaids. 2 is plenty for me. The groomsmen would be up to my future hubby :) For my flower girl???/ I don't know. My sister and brother both had my cousin as their flower girl but she's too old now.

Actually, if Chris adds another guy to his side I might ask you to stand up for me too, Blake. Y'know, to balance out the woman standing up for Chris.

But I don't know if that's going to happen... it seems kinda unlikely that Chris will add more.

I haven't spoken to my friends yet, not until Carina and I set a date, but I plan on having:

Tony as bestman, I've known him since high school and we've been the closest.
Spud, I've known him since middle school.
Scott, a good friend from college
Ken, was my roommate in college.

The only real problem is that two of them live out of state...hopefully it won't turn into a big problem.

I've stood up in my sister's wedding and for Carina's sister this past September.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who knew someone named Siobhan ^_^

In this country, we might possibly be two of VERY few who know someone named Siobhan (and how to pronounce it when we see it ^_^ ). It's Irish though, so go anywhere in Britian and you'll here it ALL over!

;)

A girl I counselled at summer camp was named Siobhan... and I went to high school with someone who had the french spelling of the name (at least I think it's French...), Chivaughn.
