Placebo

Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with Placebo or their lyrics? Before I was a christian, they were my favorite band. So for a long time, whenever I think of them, I am reminded of who I used to be. Now, I have been wanting to listen to them again. I guess I was just wondering if anyone has listened to them and can tell me what they think. Just maybe a christian view of them. I am not asking if it is right or wrong, just need other's opinions of their music.

I have a few of their songs, but as for a "Christian point of view" on them, I'm at a loss. I typically don't do that with music; I just take it for what it is, even if I understand the lyrics through a different perspective.

That said, "Special K", "Protège Moi", and "Sleeping With Ghosts" are great songs.

some good tunes and i have 3 of their albums, but they were most depressing times so i tend to not listen to them now

Their first two albums are excellent imo, they lost momentum a bit after that I felt. Lyrically I find them interesting, although they aren't themes you would really call "Christian".

heard a track this evening from Timo Maas (the German DJ) with Brian Molko on vocals. It's sounded really cool (dance/electro-pop), a complete departure from the Placebo sound.

That sounds awesome, London Boy. I love dance music.. I think Brian's voice would go well a dance/electric pop sound.

I got into Placebo several years before I became Christian at which point I deleted the bulk of my music because it was stolen.

Anyway....I always had the suspition that Brian was brought up in a Catholic school. Why? songs like Centerfolds have (conflicted) Christian undertones as well as beginning with "Come on Balthazar..." (Balthazar is used as a name for one of the three wise men)

Thanks London Boy! I will have to check that out. I haven't heard anything Timo Maas has done. So, this will all be interesting...

Still I haven't had any luck hearing "First Day", but I did hear a remix Timo Maas did for Placebo on Special K.
