  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the issues people have with doing simple photo editing with software? This isn't anymore different than a photographer who manually develops his prints to get the most out of a print.

Now if your editing to the point that you take stuff out, though i don't have a problem with that, this is going beyond the scope of what I would call a natural photo.

A lot depends on the purpose of the modifications to the photo. If artistic in nature, there is a lot of liberty that can be taken, as long as it is acknowledged in the caption. Journalistic photos have a much tighter guideline when it comes to altering. The darkroom example is a good guide. Exposure, contrast and cropping to optimize the photo are about the only acceptable changes allowed.

I do whatever I can do, to come up with the best photos I can get. What I like to do best is to blend photos together. I learned a lot about how to modify one photos, when I was cutting it out to insert it into another photo.

It all depends on what you are doing with them and who governs what you can do. I am my own boss so to say in my photo side job, I do everything under the sun to make the image top quality. I prefer to have it clean from the camera but there are times when my subjects want scars removed and skin smoothed out. I do whatever they want and also what other photo companies here don't do to offer something new in this area. I currently am working on actually taking pictures and redrawing them in a paint format to get the pictures painted. Not alot of people down here in GA offer that service so I am trying it out.
