  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pets in Heaven?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it is anyway.

This is something I've been struggling with for a while. Will our pets be in heaven with us? I don't doubt that animals will be in heaven, animals are one of God's best creations, I think, so why wouldn't He have them in heaven? But will I see my pets? I guess it comes down to do animals have souls. I know there are many opinions on this, and I've even heard that pets will be raptured with Christians. (which I find hard to believe since all the animals on Earth can't be raptured) And if God wants us to be happy, why not have our pets in heaven??
Anyway, I know know one can know for sure, but some opinions on this would be appreciated. :)

Que? Have I wandered into a sunday school class or something?

Well, the general idea of heaven in Christian terms is that everything there is perfect. Perfection alters from person to person but if, when you envision a perfect home for yourself, you see your pets, I would say they'd be there. When I look at a perfect image of my home, I see both my dog and my favorite plant.

But really, most of the time when you wonder, "I wonder what Heaven is like?" it's just better to say 'transcendent bliss', and move on before the logistics of it hit you. In a perfect world for some, a lot of people would be in Hell. Some of those people will almost certainly be in Heaven, and no doubt a small slice of them will want to see a bunch of other Heavenbound people in Hell, and so on so on. There would also have to be pain up in Heaven, for masochists, but on the other side a whole lot of people would prefer to avoid pain, and so on so on.

Like I say, think transcendent bliss and move on.

I believe our higher pets: dogs, cats, chimps, etc and other mammals like elaphants that have feelings and a mind do have a soul and have a part of heaven to themselves. We could say there's a bid praire and a big forest where all of the animals live together. Lions lay with the lambs and don't eat eachother. There may be a large sea with all of the dolphins and stuff live.

I don't believe lower animals like goldfish and hermit crabs, worms, bugs, etc possess enough of a soul to enter a heaven.

I don't know. The Bible is silent so I don't know that there is any way we can know for sure this side of Heaven.

My personal opinion is that we will see our pets in Heaven.

Two reasons for this:

The first is that I believe that God loves us and what is important to us is important to Him.

The second is that the Bible tells us that God is going to redeem His creation and I believe that means all of His creation.

I don't have anything to base this on, really, except just bits and pieces of things I've observed in scripture.

No matter what happens, though, God loves us and has our best interests at heart.

Yeah, sometimes I wish the Bible would just simply state how things are and will be, but it's God's perfect Word, so it's the way it is for a reason I guess.

Heaven's gonna be awesome either way.

Amen to that! Thanks for the opinoins everybody, made me feel a lot better :)
