  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm unsure if this question has been raised before and, if so, I apologize. But, I was curious -is it possible to be allergic to only one "kind" of cat (or animal, for that matter) and not others?
I ask this because I used to think that I was allergic to all cats because I would sneeze alot around them or they'd make me break out into hives lol. But, now I'm thinking differently because these things do not happen all the time anymore. I'm not sure -maybe I'm immune to them now? lol

Thank you, in advance, for helping!

It is possible. Many people are not allergic to their own pets, they seem to develop an immunity. I have no problems with my cats, but if I get near a new one, I'm sneezing and itching for a couple of months at least. You can also be allergic to one breed, but not another. I'm not allergic to certain rough coated breeds, like scotties, cairns, pyrs, but I go into asthma attacks around other types of dogs. Even so called "hypo-allergenic" poodles set me off.

Well, I'm allergic to all cats, and some dogs... depending on what type of fur they have, I guess. My friend came over the other night with her little dachsund (sp?), and I didn't react to her at all. Very happy about that... I've always wanted a dog and never thought I'd be able to have one.
