  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

29“Come on then,” said Jesus. Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water towards Jesus. 30But when he looked around at the stormy wind, he was frightened, and started to sink. “Lord, save me,” he cried out. 31Straight away Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him, and said, “You have such little trust in me—why did you doubt?”

As soon as Peter heard it was the Lord he put on his robe (because he’d taken it off) and jumped into the sea

i'm a little confused about this post... first you present the story of Jesus who walks on water (and Peters attempting to) quoting Matthew 14:29-31 then are you compare it with John 21:7 which is Peter encountering Jesus for the first time after his resurrection calling out to him "do you have any fish". What sort of connection are you making here? Are you suggesting Peter learnt how to swim in Matthew 14:29-31 and demonstrated that knowledge again in John 21:7 when he "threw himself into the sea"?

I would suggest the encounter in John 21 is better paralleled to Peter's original meeting with Christ in Luke 5 where similar to John 21 Jesus tells peter to cast his nets again despite poor fishing and the result was in both instances a catch that was too big for one boat to manage. This is why Peter recognized Jesus after this catch which no doubt made that instant connection that only Peter would know so intimately.
