  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

 and good morning/day everyone!! Someone raised a really good point about the feeding/care of the pets. If members have the option to receive pms about the feeding/playing with pets, then they do not know that someone is caring for their pets. This morning I looked at profiles to see when a pet owner was last on. If the pet is one that is chronically underfed, then I simply sent a little pm from me saying I fed/played with the little pet. If this makes the owner(s) unhappy, then I'll not do it again. Pets that appear to have been abandoned, ie, the owner has not been on for 30 days, will no longer be a priority. However, I've been feeding and caring for many pets whose owners are even online at the time I bless the pet. I'm assuming they have no idea this is being done since many people prefer not to have their pm boxes filled with such notices. If I do not get any response from the owners that I've pm'd, then I'll stop caring for the pet on a daily basis. These pets are the property of the pet owner and I do not want to make anyone feel that I'm doing something they would prefer I not do. May God bless you all this wonderful day. I'd appreciate your advice/opinions.

I have a question. Wouldn't the owners automatically get a PM saying their pet has been blessed, or are you specifically asking them if they want you to care for the pet for them?
They can turn off the pet notifications, so they may not actually know that the pet has been blessed.

Being able to feed another pet is a good thing, but I think we've come to realize that not all pet owners see this as a benefit to owning a pet.

If in the "Pet Options" section we could create a fourth set of choices for the owner to check, allowing or not allowing their pet to be fed by others, this would help to solve many of the problems.

so the boxes would read:
"allow others to feed pet" or
"do not allow others to feed pet".

if this were put into practice a notice could be sent to the curent pet owners of the change in feeding so they would have a chance to choose.

I think that would be the only place that would have to be changed--the current "bless and play" screen would remain the same, but nothing would happen if someone clicked on a pet that the owner did not want to be blessed.
