  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm an owner of a beautiful white cat, Ember who just turned 9 this past May.

I'm concerned~ is that this is the time when her health will start to decline, and frankly, because I'm single with ONE income, I can't afford the care for her health.

My question about pet insurance~ I'm wondering if anyone had pet insurance, and if so, is it as good as they said they are, or a waste of time & money? And which pet insurance does a good job covering medical stuff for your pet?
And which ones are affordable (I can only budget $10-$20 a month for insurance)?

would appreciate some advice on this..!

thanks!

~Lori

for pets with some chronic problems it is a must.our dogs and horses have insurance.for us it is a savings because of some of the trips to the dr's were covered, like xrays, surgery, etc. some things are not with horses especially. hoof problems, etc. is your vet suggesting this to you?

No, but my cat is getting on her years now...she's 9, (54 in human years I think)~no vet suggested anything...and I felt it's best to be prepared for whatever her health dictates at the time. Because I live on ONE income, I can't see myself not being able to afford her care as she ages.

I had pet insurance for my dog a few years ago. I used http://www.petinsurance.com/

I would not recommend them. I was never able to get them to pay for anything. I paid in excess of $300 for a year's coverage and they never paid me a dime back for anything at all. I could have actually used the $300 for my dog's health care and have been in better shape.

That's what I'm concerned about...what insurance 'trap' I might fall into. In fact, I've studied a couple of them including your link, the most of the time, they will have you pay the amount, and promises to reimburse the money you've spent. If I were you, I'd have gone to the Dept of Justice in your state, and file a complaint against this company, and contact BBB as well. Thanks for the heads up.

This was a company recommended at my vet's office. And yeah, I probably should have followed up on it, but I was in the middle of a move and dealing with illness in the family. I just wasn't up to fighting with them.

As I understand it, you're right. Most of them, YOU pay up front and then they re-imburse you. Or not.
