Does anyone keep a Persian? Do you have tips for a new owner on the involvement of hair care? Taya is new here and her coat is nice but she has "flea dirt" and I dont want to traumatize her with a bath right away. She did get flea liquid put on her and she doesnt seem to itch. How often do you brush a long haired cat? What kind of brush? How do you prevent internal hair matts?

I got a persian 9month old kiten. Shes lovable heaps and great. But when bath time rolls around. You gotta wear long jean jakets and thick gloves because she don like her body being wet that much. And when she digs her claws into ya, thats it, shell climb up your back and break free. And the end result is a scratched owner. You don't have to wash cats, but if she likes the outside and is always dirty, it is wise. Start her/him having baths at a regular basis (ie every weekend) and introduce her early so that she will get used to the idea and not b scared. If she has a long coat, the rake like brushes are best. You don't need to brush her/him, but brushing will stop the cat having to go through tangled hair and coffing up hairballs. You can get wiskas and formula kitten food or just cat food that will help break down the fur in their stomaches. Wiskas is the best in my opinion. Try to brush 'em every few days and wenever its in a mess.
