It's shows like this one that should be cancelled from television. Penn & Teller's "Bullsh!t" was broadcast tonight on Showtime and their main focus was tearing the stories of the Bible apart.

One of the guys was cussing and going off on how things in the Bible are a little far fetched like getting the animals in Noah's Ark or the parting of the red sea - all while the other held a burning Bible in his hand.

They encouraged people to read the Bible because they said they are sure that it's the only book with the most power to make anyone become an atheist.

I got really upset when they started talking about Jesus. They questioned his existense and one of the theologists being interviewed said that there were many Messiahs during Jesus' time and that he read a story about some "Appoloneous" (don't know if I've got the correct spelling) who's story was identical to Jesus' but it was before Him.

I really shouldn't be watching shows like this one because I am a new Christian and I have no one with me to re-assure me that everything will be OK and that all I've got to do is have faith.

I'm so upset by this stupid show!

Such people are ignorant. They are driven to mock the gospel. Why would they spout such animosity if they were not driven by something. You don't hear of people desparaging Hindu, Islam, Greek Mythology, or Hebrew texts. It is the Bible, mostly Jesus, which is ridiculed by people. Satan knows the greatest threat to him and he sets his legions to work to defame the object of his doom, none other than our savior Jesus!

Keep the faith sister.

I'll add to Desi's comment. And I'll say the reason they and others do and say things like this is to be seen of men. Matthew 6 is full of examples of the Pharisees behavior of doing things, supposed Godly things, but primarily the focus was to be noticed by men. Their attitude is "Look at me, I'm so wonderful that God is lucky to have someone like me worship Him." I've been a fan of Penn and Teller for a long time and if this is what they've reduced themselves too then they have one less fan.

You're right in saying you shouldn't watch this show, even for the sake of curiosity. The title alone should be enough to keep you away. It would me! You are wrong when you say you have no one with you. Rom. 8: 31 states, "With God on my side, who can be against me?" God is always there for you. When in doubt, pick up the scriptures

Well that's a shame coming from Penn and Teller.
Here's something encouraging: Penn and Teller do magic tricks. If I wanna learn how to do card tricks I'll talk to them. If I want to know something about Jesus or 1st-century Palestine, I'll go elsewhere.

There is a lot of complete nonsense passed off as scholarship these days. Naturally it gets all the press e.g. the Jesus Seminar.

In the case of utter stupidity which seems to be the case here...I don't know. This is just too weird. Why are a couple of guys who do magic tricks ragging on the bible all of a sudden?
Something got under their skin.

Wow!!! I was getting ready to start a thread about that show too. After watching I was sooooo upset , I had to pray to keep from thinking "not so nice things" about Penn and Teller. I think that one of the things that gave me comfort is that Christ told us in his word that we would deal with ppl like this and to feel sorry for them, think how misserable their life is, day in, and day out dead in their sin.....Its rather sad (pray for them).
Secondly, They are not well spoken, the amount of fallacies throuought their show is enough to drive any phil. major CRAZY!!!! atheist included, Their favorite thing to do is talk about ppl rather than the issue (Ad Hominen Fallacy).
Did you catch the part were they asked ppl if they really knew the ten commandments by heart.......They were saying Christians don't really know them and then went to Las Vegas in front of a casino to prove it (the least likely place to find a christian ) I mean you see were they come up with this stuff!!!!!
I would encourage any christian who is in the midst of witnessing to look to ppl that are as lost as these two men and set your steaks high, study the word and pray that the Lord leads you to ppl like this so that they can be exposed to the true living word of God through you.

Yeah, I have to say that the reason why I tuned in is because I would watch the show every now and then and I thought it was funny. I mean, they had a whole show dedicated to UFOs and aliens and it was hilarious! But with this, they have definitely taken it a bit too far and I'm guessing they have lost some viewers along with some respect.

I have to express my disbelief at this. To do this on TV is an absolute disgrace, To Christians and US citizens even.
I am apalled that these 2 entertainers(i use the term loosely) could make such a mockery of the Bible and it infuriates me to know that it is done everyday.

I can understand why you would be upset by this program. Still, ask yourself-- specifically why you were upset?

The path to Christ is unique to all. Perhaps the Lord allowed you to see this program for a reason? Being upset, is a product of fear and anger. These are not the ways of Christ. You must understand these Penn and Teller characters-- empathize with them, show them unconditional love. Do not fear their message. If you are upset by, offended by or fearful of what they are saying-- then its time to pause and reflect.

Why did this push your buttons? Do you hold the story of Christ as superior to the life of Christ? Christ is unconditional love. Deep down did you begin to doubt and question the Bible? Do not fear doubt. Confront it.

The stories they attacked are just that.. stories. They can't harm the deeper meaning of Christs message if they make a mockery of a story. We are on the path to Christ, we are above it. Don't fear doubt, don't turn away from such people out of fear, but out of a positive choice.

i saw these Guys in the Fear Factor, they act like Gays,
regular acting: playing with satan`s MAGIC, and then MOCKING up jesus
...hmm i think i have seen that before, some Magicians do magic-tricks and then they "thank God".

I was also disgusted about this show. The thing that got me was that there could be someone unsure about Christianity and now they might be forever led away because of two idiots. I think that really is a shame.
