Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;

Many major cities around the world have been impacted very badly due to lifestyle inflation (peace & joy) like the Skid Row below. Many found themself feeling much peace and joyful at luxury cafe after long stressful workday but it creating a lifestyle inflation demands. No Demand, No Supply.

We cannot control the inflation caused by government and by nature like pandemic but we can control the lifestyle inflation. Lifestyle inflation means spending something more than what we need for peace and joy. I always been discriminated for telling this even to super senior Christian.

What is Christianity view on simple life for a peace and joy?

The following verse rings true for me:

Ecc 5:18-20 Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God. For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.​

The above scripture shows the ability to enjoy our lives is a gift from God. The scripture shows us that the person who follows after the LORD will have joy in their life, regardless of the stresses of life, God will grant them joy. I have found the above to be true in my life, that regardless of the business of life God has granted me joy in the daily things I do.

Some Christians do encounter troubling times, that do not always fit the above passage, but I would say the above is generally true of the Christian.

Ecc 8:14 There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.​

But even Job, a man who suffered a lot, was granted blessings at the end of his life.

Job 42:10 And the LORD restored Job's losses .... Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.​
