I'm sorry you didn't get any replies to this post...I was just diagnosed with it in July (and found your post via a search in this forum.) I didn't get many comments about the diagnosis either - and now, six weeks later, I honestly forget about it most days. I hope it's been as easy to live with and as (mostly) problem-free for you.

I was diagnosed over 2 years ago after I went off the pill to start trying to get pregnant, and stopped having periods. Further testing showed a high TSH, but my T3s (I think that's what it's called) were normal.

My doctor said I can either go back on the pill, or go on Clomid, but that my husband had to be tested before I went on the Clomid. He got tested, had a zero sperm count, and thus started almost 3 years of tests and him/us coming to terms with it. We just started doing IUIs with donor sperm a couple months ago.

After the diagnosis, my periods did come back and regulated to a certain extent, especially with the help of progesterone cream (Arbonne's Prolief). I also lost 30 lbs (and gained 5 lbs back so far) which has helped stablize things - TSH is normal now. I think I'm lucky in that I don't have it as bad. I know people who have all kinds of issues with it though.

What I've noticed is that doctors are split on how to deal with it, and because it's a syndrome and not a disease, no one treatment works for everyone. Read up on the sites, and keep trying different things recommended until you find something that works for you. For example, I refuse to go on a low-carb diet, but some PCOS sufferers say that was what worked for them. Weight Watchers worked for me. Some who have PCOS don't need to lose weight at all.

I'm so glad to hear that Weight Watchers worked for you - I've just started (a week ago) and hoping that it will help if this isn't 'our month' as well. Clomid worked for me last time, after three cycles - and I'm on my second cycle of Clomid now. Praying that it works as well a second time!

I'm a "thin" cyster so I hadn't really thought about my diet too much until a few months ago. My husband and I went on a diet recommended by the Mayo clinic. It's not necessarily a low carb diet, but rather an attempt to get you the correct serving sizes for things. We eat a lot more veggies and fruits now than we used to. I feel better and did lose a few pounds.

I have ovulated two cycles in a row now so I'm not sure if it's 100% the medication or 100% my diet... it's more than likely a combination of the two.

I have pcos too. was diagnosed in may 2005. was prescribed metformin and told would be pg in 9 months... still not pg

looks like met was giving me pains in my pelvic area so now have to stop that for three months before trying clomid.

as for the low -carb diet, it worked for me when I was sticking to it!!!;) I lost two stone in two months... then I got fed up with it! now my weight is stuck.

I was diagnosed with PCOS today. I have been having a lot of pain, and they think it is from the cysts that were found. The doctor has asked to do 2 more tests to make sure that her findings are correct, and then we will look at treatment options.

We had talked about trying to conceive in a few years, so it kind of makes us sad that things might not work. We were both fertility drug babies so knew that infertility might be an issue before we found everything out today.

Those of you that have PCOS that could give me some info. it would be very appreciated.

I haven't been diagnosed officially with PCOS, all my doctors keep telling me is 'it looks like borderline PCOS in at least one ovary' which is not really that helpful. I do have a lot of the symptoms though...

It was found because at only 20 I was having a lot of trouble falling and staying pg. Clomid and LOTS of prayer and God has seen fit to bless us with a beautiful daughter after 1 m/c and then 11mths of TTC, and another on the way after 6mths of TTC... so while it is a bit scary to think that something is wrong, by God's strength you will have victory. I just wanted to add a bit of a good news story to this thread...
