• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I guess I'm depressed because I've taken so many hits in life, lately it seems the evil are getting away with their deeds and I still suffer:confused:

I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering the wicked. As someone with a depressive illness I know how deep the pit can go and how desolate our depressed lives can become. Early on in my life this made me angry but over the years I've learned that suffering has its positives as well for it shapes our characters and it forces us to rely on God's love.

The best way to deal with your depression is to remember to put a positive over against each negative. Fortunately Jesus has made this possible because the positives far outweigh the negatives, for He overcame the wicked and made sure that the good things of God are available to His Children.

Remember it took a lot of negatives before you became depressed, so it will take a lot of positives to grow back out of your depression again.

Try and look at God and refuse to look at the wicked. God is glorious and causes us to grow loving, joyful, thankful and hopeful hearts, depression cannot ever beat such spiritual forces.

Be courageous and stand up for God's good, the wicked will be forced to let go of you once you are filled with hope in God's goodness.

I'm sorry things are so hard.

Whatever is happening around you, remember that God is on your side, and ultimately he is working for your good. It isn't apparent now, but one day you will look back and understand what He was doing.
Praying for you

There are 2 types of pain...
1. "clean pain" from natural consequences of loss or injury...
2. "dirty pain" extra pain we add to the clean pain, that makes the suffering greater, by how we personalize it.

Joe, be careful how you interpret things and work toward establishing boundaries with people who are hurtful to you.
Basically, don't neglect one of the greatest commandments - to love ourself (as you also love others).

I hope you feel better, Joe.
I gotta run - but if you get a chance, google Life schemas/life traps... & cognitive distortions... not fun reading - but it gets to the heart of much dirty pain (extra suffering.)
God bless you!
