"To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law." 1 Cor 9:20

This was part of Pauls skillful means. To a Jew he was like a Jew under the law. All things to all people so as to win some. In reality he was beyond the reach of the law and the one who gave it. But for the sake of his weaker brothers (so as to not give offense) at times he acted as if he were still under it.

Why does Luke record, that the Holy Spirit sent Paul, and the demons of Acts 19, saw the same Holy Spirit in Paul, as they saw in Jesus?

Is this verse translated wrong because it seems to be pretty obvious that he doesn't consider himself bound to the law. I'll post it again because I want to get some input on it from the people who disagree that Paul was merely acting as one under the law to win Jews and instead believe he was actually under the law:

"To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law." 1 Cor 9:20

I understand it as meaning he comes from a Jewish heritage, but now is a born again Christian and will try to convert other Jews to Christ by participating in their traditions. That's why he told Timothy to hold onto your traditions, because you may put off some Jews to Christ.

Paul was sought out by God to save the souls of the Jews, Peter was sought out by God to save the souls of the Gentiles.

Paul not only in Eph 2, spoke of law abolishment addressing jews and gentiles, but he also said judaism was torn down.

Gal 2;18For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor.

And here, speaking to and about jews, as they were in the "we", he said they were ransomed from law.

Gal 4:3So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world. 4But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons

That doesn't say he was following the law.
If anything, he was sharing the revelation of Christ in said law.

Personally I think it should be taken exactly as said. I don't see how one could come to the conclusion Paul is admitting to being under the law, especially considering Romans and Galatians. To believe such would IMHO be double tongued IOW lying. In which case Paul couldn't be legit and the Bible then becomes an unreliable source to base anything on. The same goes for Moses.
