Jesus called them sons of the devil and/or sons of disobedience, and in Ephesians says
everyone to start with is subject to the prince of the power of the air (the devil).
And unbelievers are today, already, condemned for their unbelief. They do not have to wait to be condemned.

They're held captive by the devil until they become a member of the Church, which is what that means.
It doesn't mean that God doesn't love them, or God made them evil, of they are biological sons or daughters of the devil
It just means that they need to be brought into the Church to be saved.

He is the prince and power of the air presently. While every sin, well most sin really, is not attributable to satan, he is a powerful and deceitful being. I would not take him so lightly as a human as only through the power of Christ is he defeated.

The reason they are called such is because they "follow in the footsteps of" so to speak, as you would consider a son or daughter to do.
In Galatians 3:6-8
So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? So also Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.
The why is because those who have faith are doing as Abraham did, and so are counted as children. The same is true for doing the works and deeds of the devil. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree is another colloquialism which states the same concept - we act like those who parent us.
The Bible just says that if you act like the devil your a spiritual child of the same, whereas if your full of faith your a spiritual child of Abraham, because the Bible is concerned with man's spiritual state and so uses these colloquialisms for a persons spiritual state.
