  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found out that I am financially able to go to the MJAA conference this year and was looking forward to this as I have heard so much about it. Now I found out that Pat Robinson is going to be there,( I am guessing as one of the speakers) and not sure if I want to go. Didn't he just recently make a statement against Israel?

I also heard that Coach Bill Mc Carney , the owner or starter of Promise Keepers stepped down this past year to join the MJAA in some kind of partnership, this after he almost died after attending a conference two years ago? Anyone have any details about this?

Thanks Pray4srael, I wouldn't let one keep me away but it got me to thinking, if he did this, who else would be there that really isn't for Israel? I have heard many strange things about these conferences, that they aren't really messianic but, too Christian, so I will remain cautious. I was hoping someone could dispell my trepitations about this, but you are right, I don't have to go when he is speaking. :)

Shalom all,
What statement did P.R. allegedley make?
I don't watch his show regularly, but he certainly gave nothing but the impression that he was for Israel etc...when Walid Shoebat was on his show March 19th.He did have Walid on there showing the hatred & violence taught to the Arabs of Israel etc...

Shalom Zayit

The link showed an error
Since I can't see the article via that link, I can't comment.I knew Rabbi Tovia was questioning if the movie would produce anti-Jewish sentiment, or I think his site said, will it crucify the Jews?" But I haven't heard much since I listened to him and Walid at the University of Toronto.

Please when you have time let me know what that article said.

Shalom and shalom

Yes, I double checked and the reason that the link didn't work was because I couldnt find it at the site (CBN) so I reviewed a cached page. I guess they didn't like the negative publicity that it incited. However google does have the page saved so if you type in these keywords exactly ( copy and paste this) cbn The Passion According to Isaiah and put it in a google search engine then look for the site titled CBN Spiritual Life - CBN.com but don't click on this, click on the cached underneath it and it will take you to the saved page.

Here is part of it:
One might think the passage is obscure and irrelevant based on the fact that so many people are unfamiliar with it. That unfamiliarity in part stems from the fact that Isaiah 53 does not appear in the regular synagogue calendar readings. Yet it could be argued that the very fact that it is left out shouts out the importance of this passage. Even the reasons for omitting it point to the uniqueness of this passage. For example, one Jewish scholar, Claude Montefiore, explained: "Because of the christological interpretation given to the chapter by Christians it is omitted from the series of prophetical lessons for the Deuteronomy Sabbaths … the omission is deliberate and striking."(2)
You will also see a little further down on the google page an article from israel national news that talks about this:

... A misleading article prominent on Robertson's CBN.com makes the stunning claim that
the Jews ... The article, "The Passion According to Isaiah", claims that the ...
