Does anyone sense passive aggressiveness in Christian fellowships? Can be something as subtle as shutting someone out that we don't care for. Maybe it makes us feel better not to throw them out of our fellowship, but more subtly cut them off to where they would leave.

Anyone else sense passive aggressiveness (not speaking of anything on this forum)?

As I understand it, the term generally is applied to someone attempting to manipulate another through guilt, debt, or even the potential to be embarrassed. It might be considered the use of non-confrontational force. Thus can be done with a pretense of civility which is a form of hypocrisy.

With organizations sometimes the program becomes more important than the people. Some can be given short shrift it it appears that listening to them might interfere with the schedule.

The person treating others this way will seldom be open to correction. One has to avoid them.

It's quite sad and it's a wonder people are leaving the churches and various fellowships for something more authentic.

Although, i may be out of touch with things going on, on a larger scale there.

Well, I'm still going to do my thing ... Reach out to others. See how I can help. Share in this Christian journey. Maybe the ice will melt.

"And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved." (2 Corinthians 12:15)

This is what our Apostle Paul says to people in the church in Corinth. So, I guess Paul has experienced something like you have > there are people who do not know how to love. But Paul would be there for them, by being their example of how to love.

He did not give up on them.

Even while there can be passive aggressive ones there, do you have people who are good role models for you, there, also?

Must be divine thing that you quoted Paul as I've been revisiting what Paul wrote and feel a personal connection.

I do literally give it my all. 'Ive never been shipwrecked or stoned, unless you count the day my jetski's engine ceased on me on an alligator infested lake, but I have had more subtle forms of aggression against me.

I often wonder if all that was his thorn in the flesh.

I do have one person in my life that i can totally count on that sees me, etc. And I have the number one that i need. God.

Thanks for sharing. Think I'll revisit, once again, 2 Corinthians and sit there for awhile and see if God may share more with me. God bless you.

Yes. But the body of Christ is full of imperfect people.
Yes, and I'm one of them, but it helps to discuss what we may see to help bring change if that is what is called for.

This is just something i sense on a larger scale. Not everywhere, but some places.

Christianity is not to blame but rather the fault lies with those running the show, something which occurred almost right from the beginning when people realized they could use God for their purposes rather than change themselves to suit His will. Time turns that attitude into tradition and truth is lost. The blinded then lead future blind. Division is encouraged between man rather than between the Kingdom and the ways of man, as God originally intended. We were not to have it both ways. Once the religion fell back into the adversarial world, it had no intention of repenting and changing back and has splintered further ever since. It is left up to the individual to transcend the curse of selfish mankind.

The more we do as the Kingdom of God requires of us, the more we are hated by the adversarial world of man for not fitting into the game of self-interest. Agape is often met with rebellion unless others wrongly see something in it for themselves, then they say bring it on so that they may gain without playing it forward. This is why many see treating all to basic human rights as the dirty word socialism rather than as loving all as self.
