  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New here . . I remember reading once something by C.S. Lewis regarding Albert Schwitzer's (sp?) veiw on the parousia/advent of Christ. I just read the dictionary meaning of the word & I get the impression it is referring to the 'second coming' of Christ. When first reading of the word (via Lewis), I got the idea that it was referring to the first arrival of Christ. That Christ subjectively 'stepped into the shoes' of the prophesied Messiah, thus fulfilling the prophecy. I was under the impression that there were other Jewish men that had the same lineage/background that could have also fulfilled this prophecy. It's almost like Christ realized this and had the courage to take this step. Of course, what I've just presented was the result of my original misconception (unless I was correct, & hopefully someone here will let me know). When I think about the 'theory' which I suggested above, it kind of seems more of a real way in which Christ would have INITIALLY appeared. God was just waiting for someone to realize what was required to become the Son of God/Son of Man, and to act on it. To me, Christ seems more understandable & believable when viewed in this context. If this is an actual belief system for some (called by another name besides parousia), maybe someone here can enlighten me as well. Thanx, Mark
