  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings,

I am a soon-to-be dad of a newborn, and I have a question about parenting books. It seems that every book out there is designed for women. Is there a good parenting book out there that is written for guys?

Thanks!
Jeff

Look for books by Steve Farrar. He has written many books about fatherhood. Not sure what kinds of books you want. For books on baby care the books "designed for women" can be read by men also;). Many times the only womanly thing about those is the flowery pastel book cover, the content works for dads as well as moms.

Kevin Leman's books (my favorite parenting author) are very good for men as well.

James Dobson too.

I don't think they are all for mom's.... some are more gender neutral.

Bringing Up Boys by Dr. Dobson has chapters one about Fathers and sons and one about Mothers and sons. I don't know if you're having a boy though...

The Parents answer book is useful just knowing what to expect in development over the first 5 years.

We have a funny sattire book called "So You're going to be a father" and its hilarious....

Babywise by Ezzo is written for fathers and mothers, and it is very helpful
