paranoia or need for serious concern?

As animals of this world our body has certain chemicals that tell our body to do certain things, for example a certain chemical is released to tell your body you hungry or full. This is an example of the ingenius that God created his blessed children with.

I have been in a delima or so i call it here for the past year. I've been saved through our Lord Christ Jesus, and my life, as most peoples is, has been changed. The only thing that hasnt completely for some reason is my bodys levels of hormones.

Now i realize this is a christian forum so im going to try and keep this in good terms but my question to the forums is this:

Is it wrong for a young man to mastrabate?

God says that adultry is wrong. which I completely agree with, but at the same time why did he put these chemicals in our bodies if he knew the result?


Someone want to help clarify this for me?

It's a rough topic to cover but the singles section has a whole thread going right now on abstinence where you can hear from both sides and see what people are saying. It could probably say more than I could here, but yes, I do believe that masturbating is wrong and displeasing to God. The desire for sex and companionship certainly isn't a bad feeling; after all, that's how God designed us. However, part of being a follower of Christ is learning self-control and giving those issues over to Him.

No, just keep in mind, it affects your energy levels.
If you have an active day, you won't really have the desire to, so if you want to avoid it, then you should fill up your days with physical activity. Leave early and get home late, push as much as you can into each minute. But if you don't use that liveliness, then it's a perfectly natural way to release pent up energy and stress, and can actually help bolster your immune system, although if you're doing it every day you probably need to find a more productive way to spend that energy.

Otherwise, adultery requires someone to be married. and unless you too busy masturbating to get anything done, it's probably not worth worrying about.

Let me say this by making a note that this is a struggle for most men, including myself. So in struggling with this you are in no way isolated.

However God tells us that lust is wrong. He doesn't just say its adultry but in other letters of Paul he says to flee from lust.

Typically in order to engage in something like that, lust is a necessity.

Now there are no direct references to touching yourself in scripture, but there are plenty of references to lust.

Now for me I think this is significant because it makes a difference as to if just lust is wrong or if the act of touching yourself itself is wrong. The reason it makes a difference is for those who are married. I don't belive it is wrong to touch when thinking of your spouse if for some reason you are unable to engage in sexual intimacy with them.

However for those who are unmarried, there is no one that is ok to think of.

So yes it is wrong. However saying that does not make the struggle easy.

Scripture is silent on the specific issue of masturbation (as opposed to lust or actual sex) for a reason: the answer is different depending on your situation. It comes down to this: what affects your behavior toward others more adversely, masturbating or not masturbating?

For some men, masturbating causes them to habitually objectify women and come up with unrealistic fantasies that either keep them away from suitable mates altogether or cause them to pressure their mates into things they don't want to do.

But hormones cause sexual tension that we can't prevent, and that tension, if left unchecked, can make us do way more crazy things. And for most males--especially males who are otherwise mentally healthy--releasing the tension from time to time is the safer thing by a long shot.

If you're using masturbation to replace normal human relationships, as some sort of self-flagellation, or to objectify women in an unhealthy way, you've got a problem. But if you're doing it sparingly to release tension that you did nothing untoward to build up but that comes about anyway, go forth and spank.

On the other hand, be aware that your body will regulate things on its own & you can go without that action with no adverse effects. The stuff will be expelled and replaced in the normal course of life with no proactive action on your organs at all. It is a cop out to blame it on physiology is what I am saying.

That isn't to say it isn't pleasurable or that it is forbidden, I am saying neither thing. I am saying that you can get along in life just fine without doing it. Better to be intellectually honest about the why.

Right, this is an important point. If you've got a lot of built-up tension because you've just been rolling around on the floor with your girlfriend for about an hour, don't sit there and tell yourself you "can't help it."

A lot of Christians disagree on whether or not masturbation is a sin. Since I'm not a Christian, I'm sure my opinion doesn't matter to you, but let me point out one thing: Adultery occurs when a married person has sex with another person to whom he or she is not married... not when you touch.
