Pagan origin of our calendar and days, DISTINCT from the way God said days and months should be counted and the names are from OTHER false gods specifically named in their honour!

Exodus 23:13 and in all things that I have said to you
take heed: and make no mention of other gods,
neither let it be heard out of your mouth.

1. JANUARY:
==========
Named for Janus, the Roman mighty one of portals and
patron of beginnings and endings, to whom this month
was sacred. He is shown as having two faces, one in
front, the other at the back of his head, supposedly
to symbolize his powers.

2. FEBRUARY:
============
This name is derived from Februa, a Roman festival of
purification. It was originally the month of
expiation.

3. MARCH:
=========
It is named for Mars, the Roman mighty one of war.

4. APRIL:
=======
This name comes from the Latin APRILIS, indicating a
time of Fertility. It was believed that this month is
the month when the earth was supposed to open up for
the plants to grow.

5. MAY:
======
This month was named for Maia, the Roman female deity
of growth or increase.

6. JUNE:
=======
This name is sometimes attributed to June, the female
mighty one of the marriage, the wife of Jupiter in
Roman mythology. She was also called the "Queen of
heaven" and " Queen of mighty ones." The name of this
month is also attributed to Junius Brutus, but
originally it most probably referred to the month in
which crops grow to ripeness.

7. JULY:
=======
Named for the Roman emperor Julius Caesar, this is the
seventh month of the Gregorian year.

8. AUGUST:
==========
Named for Octavius Augustus Caesar, emperor of Rome;
the name was originally from augure, which means, "to
increase."

9. SEPTEMBER:
=============
This name is derived from the Latin septem, meaning
"seven."

10. OCTOBER:
============
This name comes from the Latin root octo, meaning
"eight."

11. NOVEMBER:
=============
This name is derived from Latin novem, meaning
"ninth."

12. DECEMBER:
============
This name is derived from the Latin decem, meaning
"ten."

Do you know how the pagan names were given to the days
of the week?

==================================================

1. The First Day: Sunday was named after the Sun god.

2. The second Day: Monday was named after the moon
goddess

3. The Third Day: Tuesday was named after the god Tyr.

4. The Fourth Day: Wednesday was named after the god
Odin.

5. The Fifth Day: Thursday was named after the god
Thor

6. The Sixth Day: Friday was named after the goddess
Frigga

7. The Seventh Day: Saturday was named after the god
Saturn.

But teh Hebrews kept days and months differently, the Holy days of god are Hebrew days different in every way from the pagan way that is an international standard

The churches say that they don't have to keep holy days and this is true if one does not want the blessinng of the spirit of truth from holy hebrew days of God, they are optional, but the question is that if the churches do not want to keep days, WHY, HOW can they kepp PAGAN DAYS?

why insult god by paying tribute to false gods by keeping pagan days iNSTEAD of Holy Hebrew days?

Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

1Co 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

I wonder who Apollos was named after?

Seems like the Catholics don't know scripture.

Revelation 22:18-19

Revelation 22:18-19, "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

We know scripture a lot better then you think. I hope you can accept this verse in the light of the fact that most all Protestant Bibles are missing 7 books!

Of course as a pagan I really don't see anything particularly wrong with that at all...

But if we are going to discuss intelligently re-naming days and months I don't think we should go with a theme that is based on any religion. Something netural is probably best, because I'm sure you've noticed that it's not just Christians out there in that big world.

Hi asdara,
glad to see you here, and I quite agree with you, a neutral name for days that hebrews lable pagan because they are different from the way the God of Love described Hi days, it seems a very good idea...

But Hebrew days are VERY different in start point and lregth and variability from the Roman-style days that the world is mostlt familiar with in everyday life, so they actually do need a different name...

The names then of the months and days listed in my post above then are just POINTERS to the pagan [it mens non-Hebrew, not non-christian] origin of these days and that they thus simply CANNOT be used for instance as the days that God describes as being holy in the bible

[not that that should worry you of course. and I'm not saying that it should worry you either, this is just a point of information for those who think that they can keep holy days by keeping pagan days, such as keeping a day like Sunday or Saturday in place of holy Hebrew sabbath, or keeping Easter in place of Passover .... the point is that one should KNOW what one is celebrating and WHY, not accidentaly keep pagan days if one were aiming to be holy to the God of Love of the bible]
