Well, did he also fake that when he died the hands healed...right after they were bleeding?

And that his body was empty of blood...?

And he also faked all those miracles too.

AND his last trick... he faked his incorrupt body.

I knew he was good, but dang it, didnt know he was THAT good.

That site is Hogwash. Know what I mean? ;)

I like how they say this
Padre Pio, whose real name was Francesco Forgione
it was not like he had a fake name, people called him Pio and Padre is a form of respect, no one ever heard of a nickname before?

Oh and
The new allegations were greeted with an instant dismissal from his supporters
nothing new about them, he was called a fake all his life but no one could ever prove anything about him being fake, if the wounds were fake then it would not have healed up after his death, and I think you need a lot more then 4 grams of acid to keep this up for years

Padre Pio, Italy's most-loved saint, faked his stigmata by pouring carbolic acid on his hands, according to a new book.

If it's true, does it change the status of his canonization?

That was one of the claims by his detractors going back to when he first experienced his stigmata. He was also kept under observation by a doctor by a period of time, kept his hands wrapped, so that it could be determined whether he was faking it or not. Obviously he wasn't. The doctor could find no explanation for the wounds.

In addition ... His stigmata did not
become infected nor did his flesh decompose; it did not degenerate in necrosis, and did not exude a bad odor. It bled and remain constant and unaltered for years, against all laws of nature.

Upon his death in 1968, the wounds were no longer visible. In fact, there was no scaring and the skin was completely renewed.

No, the site is a reliable news organization. Its reporting on the claims in a book, not saying they are true. Its the book that's hogwash, IMHO.

Thank you for the info. :)

The book is Hogwash!! ;) Know what I mean? lol

This claim has been ou thtere for years and like many here stated, there are many other miracles and such that support the stigmatas.

He was a man touched special by God and many try to play off that fame or hate the church so badly that they will say anything and do anything to try and hurt her.

Funy how the artical has to throw a protestent jab in at the end about how more people pray to him than Jesus. Never ceases to amaze me....

Its all just a taste of what Christ went through...and His detractors also try to claim He didnt live, or He didnt die, or He wasnt Who He said He was, or that He imitated Mithra.

It began from the start and nothing amazes me, just annoys me like crazy. :|

While the site is one of the biggest British daily newspapers, in my opinion, it does not necessarly make the information always what it seems...
Let's just say I used to know someone who worked in fleet street quite a few years ago...

The tone of the article gives me the impresssion that the person who wrote it, in fact has some misconceptions about the Catholic teachings, here is an extract of the post.

A recent survey in Italy showed that more people prayed to him than to Jesus or the Virgin Mary.

I would like to see details about that so called survey, and also a brake down about their religious believes and details of church attendance of those surveyed.

Yea, he was a fake and Mother Theresa was an atheist.

Darn, how the enemy is really working over time.

I promise you I really think the end is near with all the darkness and doubt that's around us now, with all the ridiculous accusation against the Saints and with all these natural disasters happening left and right.

The battle in the spiritual realm must really be heating up. Lord help us all.

CC, that was rude, and I dont mind telling you that either.

He wasnt nutty. And since he is one of my favorite Saints, I do hope you have the humility to retract such an inane comment.

I sure that the Romans tried to convince people that Jesus didn't rise from the dead. Maybe they came up with some new arguments for why the body disappeared or perhaps they even denied that the body had disappeared. Just because they claimed it didn't happen and maybe even gave convincing evidence, does that mean we shouldn't believe it?
