you say vanilla twilight and fireflies is awesome. i say the whole cd is catchy! haha

i heard from owl city for the first time on a local radio station and they played fireflies and i was so hooked because of the instruct mental but i soon realized about music its not about the instruct mental itself but the message or lyrics that mean something.

and owl city does make some good lyrics but overall their new cd is awesome. i'm also a fan of jimmy eat world and hawk nelson. i'm a huge rock/christian rock and a little pop rock fan.

I heard fireflies on 96.1, and at first, I was like, what IS this?! Because the lyrics are at first really weird when you hear them the first time. But as I heard it more and more, then listened to some other of their songs, it kinda grew on me.

i know ^_^ i'm so glad i'm not the only one that likes owl city. they are awesome and just after your previous post i listened to their cd 3 times straight while reading the bible.

the lyrics are weird at first but they have a meaning it has you thinking and meditating on your real life situations. and the instruct mental helps out a lot!:prayer:

they are an awesome band. i would like for them to make a nice spiritual cd. i pray and hope they make the transition from pop rock to ccm. it would be nice!

i feel like a geek:blush:

I was browsing iTunes, and discovered Fireflies on a list of Christian songs. Is that only because the guy from Relient K is in the band? I looked on Owl City's Wikipedia page and couldn't find anything about the band professing any sort of faith. Are they kinda like Evanescence in that the band isn't Christian per se, but one of their members is? Does having a Christian in an otherwise unaffiliated band enough to justify listing a song of theirs as "Christian"?

@ApostropheAvenger

I can agree with you on your post. To be honest I never pay attention to the origin of the music but to the lyrics. I listen to music only because it had a way of meditating and calming me down.

What I fail to realize is it did just that and what's crazy is that I let a worldly item titled music screw with my christian walk.

I asked god about music in general and I feel convicted right now in spirit because its really affecting me spiritually!

I know I said previously they were a good band. Well yeah but it wasn't doing anything for me to get closer to jesus christ and it certainly is messing up my walk to show the world I'm a born christian and walk christian faith. I don't want those or my sisters to think its okay to listen to worldly music.

So today when I get home from work I will discard all those CDs because I feel a strong conviction in me and I truly need to let go of these worldly demonic ways!
I rebuke you SATAN in the name of JESUS! I pray that you deliver me and help me get the things that is not like you out of me!!

And to be honest I feel so strong that I will not even sell them to fye or give them away. I will break them and throw then away in the trash where they belong!

HALLELAJAH! Its a mini praise but to me but its a deliverance that needs to be made and heard by many christians today. And to my friend in this thread that I said owl city is awesome. They are not and at your age you are to young to understand. A message from me to you. Please let go to any music that is not helping you get closer to our lord.

Take this question and ask yourself. If jesus was in the room with you, do you honestly think he would approve to you listening to this? Think about it God is watching us 24/7!

May my post be a blessing to you brothers and sisters in Christ! God Bless!

Jesus would rock out to Owl City c:. And the only song Owl City might have ever made that would be bad, would be Hello Seattle. And its only one line, and its not even bad. 'Hello Seattle, I am a Mountaineer. I fall asleep in Hospital parking lots...' People would say, 'Holy cow patties, that is so bad to say that, I'm sueing for some stupid reason.' :/

It hasn't caught onto you yet because your still young. But give it time. You will begin to understand why I changed my opinion not only about owl city but music in general.

I am convicted in my spirit about music in general and spiritually I'm fighting with it as we speak not until I get home and discard all the CDs. If I need to listen to anything I would rather listen to the word of god being taught to me not having secular music going through my ears

I rebuke that in the name of JESUS and ask Jesus for forgiveness!!

Even christian rock can be at times secular. All the rock genre did was add christian to the mix and lyrics but fact is the origin of rock (drums) which is worldly is still being taught to us.

Jesus would not rock to owl city and that's a fact because the instrumental is part of this WORLD!

How can you walk holy and godly but listen to owl city (which is theatrically world music) and it speaks of nothing of god at all. Not one time does any band member mention god or jesus in their lyrics. Why? Because they are sold on their CDs selling because of what the world wants!!

that's the first thing i did too big al!!! haha they do have a smiliar feel but to be honest they sound more different which they different themselves away from the world and focused more on god! god bless for that post leightonh!

and i got rid of all my cds. i mean i have maybe 4 cd's right now by a artist called decemberadio, tonex, reilent k, and toby mac! i kept those 4 cds because they spoke to me spiritually but a lot of video games and a lot of dvd's have been thrown out. call that a spiritual breakthrough for me!

well since i can't post pics until i get 50 posts i will basically wait to show a picture but all of those cds, dvds, and videos games are in a plastic bag and might be recycled for whatever the garbage company does with it. sure that was hundreds of dollars going to waste but i consider that a punishment to myself for buying all these worldly things! GOD BLESS! THANK YOU JESUS!:amen:

by the way, i didn't watch the superbowl but i had this strange feeling that the saints were going to beat the colts.

they deserve it and that goes to show you even spiritually you can come from a suck season and from out of the blew never give up and press through and live an greatful and astounding life still with god's help!;)

the saints were not that good for several years but as soon as they got the right players together. they were a superbowl contender and even then people still doubted them. but they won!

One thing I like about LIGHTS is that she actually writes her own songs, and co-produces them. That and she's Canadian. :D

I think God will bless you for following up on your convictions. My dad went through the same thing when he was about your age and he destroyed all of his old records. Of course back then there was far less Christian music to replace them with, but he's always told me he never regretted it and I don't think you will either.
