Overdrawn?
Deuteronomy 33:25 ... your strength will equal your days.
Have you ever overdrawn your checking account? It can happen because youve been traveling or unusually busy, or you know, kind of cutting things pretty close financially- or just because you inadvertently wrote some checks before your recent deposit has cleared. You cant try to buy or pay before the money is there to cover it.
You get in trouble when you run ahead of the deposit that you need to cover what youre doing. Especially when you are drawing on Gods deposit to provide the resources you need to cover the challenge youre facing. Hes promised He would do that - but only in daily deposits.
He's promised strength to equal your days. You get Mondays strength for Mondays burdens. If you try to run ahead to what may happen on Tuesday or Wednesday - or a week from now or a month from now - youre on your own. In Matthew 6:34 Jesus says "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Jesus portrays worrying as borrowing tomorrows trouble before you get to tomorrow. Worry hauls tomorrow into today. And its just too much.
If youre feeling overstressed and overwhelmed today, it may be that you are bringing too many of tomorrows burdens into today . . . its called worrying. One day at a time is the only way God has ever prepared us to live - daily bread, daily strength, daily mercies.
God will never let your daily need be more than the strength & grace that He puts in your account to cover that need. His compassion never fails, for each day it is new every morning!
Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Psalm 68:19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens; whose compassion is new every morning and never fails. Help each of us grab on to these truths, to take one day at a time. Show each of us how to rely on your strength for today. In the name of Jesus Christ.
