Numbers 13:33
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which came of the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Giants & Grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are tiny insects that creep on the ground. Giants, enormous-sized men, could easily trample the grasshoppers. The giants may not even see them as they tower above: grasshoppers, overwhelmed by giants. No win, just lose, better go home....

In this scripture, ten spies came back with an evil report. “Oh, yes, it’s a good land, but the men are giants. We don’t stand a chance with them!”

These Israelite spies erred in their thinking. They were giants because God fought for Israel. The Israelites were powerful! God endued them with Power! Sadly, only two spies believed they could win against the giants; ten felt they were grasshoppers. “We can’t do it. It’s too much to ask!” So they whimpered and whined.

When we ignore God's Amazing Grace we become whiners about everything! Ouch! These doubters and whiners caused the other Faithful men to miss the Promised Land, to wander in the wilderness for 40 years! Not the Plan! Doubting and whining spreads like a virus. What's the alternative? God's Mercy and Grace!

In another story we read of the Philistine giant. He challenged the armies of Israel, “Send a man to fight with me. If he wins, we will be your servants, but if I win you will be our servants” (I Samuel 17). Although a young lad, David was not encumbered with a grasshopper mentality. He didn’t even think about his size. He knew he belonged to God and no one, not even a giant, could beat up on God. He turned his eyes toward Him!

In the end of this story David is the giant – in Faith and Confidence. That's where YOU stand when you surrender to Jesus, never leaning to your own understanding!

Discouraged? Depressed? Defeated? Give up the grasshopper mentality! You've been clothed in the Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17) since your confession of Jesus as Savior (Romans 10:8-13).

REJOICE!! LIFT THE NAME OF JESUS HIGHER!! SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS ~~~ PROCLAIM IT IN THE CITY STREETS!! HE IS LORD!!!
