To continually receive "from above", or become a dry branch.
Hebrews 6:
7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs
useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;
8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose
end is to be burned.
John 15:
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides
in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much
fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they
gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
This is the Lord's Discipline, for His disciples=disciplined ones.
Hebrews 12:11 Now no discipline seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who
have been trained by it.
1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are convicted (by the Spirit), we are disciplined
by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
