Dear Daily Message Readers,
READ: 1 Samuel 15
1 Samuel 15:29 NIV) Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.
As a child growing up attending elementary school, during recess, our class would occasionally play a game called Simon Says. The rules of the game were very simple. Here they are:
If Simon said to do something and you did it, then you were allowed to continue to play the game.
If Simon said to do something and you did not do it, then you were eliminated from the game because you did not do what Simon said.
If Simon did not tell you to do something and you did not do it, then you were allowed to continue to play the game.
If Simon did not tell you to do something and you did it, then you were eliminated from the game because you did something that Simon did not tell you to do.
The game of Simon Says has many similarities to Gods will. For those who choose to follow Gods will, there remains a fulfillment and joy that transcends all understanding. The end result is a greater relationship with Christ. On the other hand, those who neglect Gods call face the emptiness of sin, and consequently, a life without fulfilling Gods will. The end result for these people is the consequences for their actions.
Thankfully, God offers forgiveness and hope to all people despite any wrong they may commit against Him (1 John 1:9 and Titus 2:14). Once God has restored a person, however, He asks them to follow Him in daily service and fellowship again. If they refuse, the cycle starts over again.
Where do you find yourself today? Are you following Gods plan and living according to His Word? Or are you out of the game, living life on your own and refusing to serve the One who has given you so much? Make a commitment today to renew your commitment to Gods plan for your life no matter where you are in your relationship with Him.
Faith Lesson: Following Gods will means that we sacrifice the sinful desires of our flesh for His unfailing plan.
In Christ,
Darin Smith
