Our baby is here!!!

After waiting and waiting we finally have our little girl. She was 13 days past my due date. I really didn't want to do anything to start labor, so I was really starting to get fed up with it all. Then yesterday morning I started having contractions. They were not real hard or regular all morning. At about 1 pm they settled down to 10 min. apart and about 1 min long. This went on all afternoon. When my DH got home about 5pm I was totally frustrated, because I had been having regular contractions without them really doing anything. Around 6:30 they suddenly started to pick up and at 7:00 I told DH that he better call the midwife because I suddenly couldn't function. He called and I got in the shower for a few minutes. I got out and lay down on the bedroom floor because DH was putting sheets on the bed. Two contractions later I suddenly had to push. The baby was born very fast and easily. I felt a little panicked because I didn't really think I was dilated yet, but there was no holding back. DH caught the baby and then called his mom in. (She was there to get the other kids and take them to her house, but since things went to fast they were all still there) She and the kids got to see the baby just minutes after the birth.
I'm still in a little bit of shock over how fast it went. The midwife didn't get here until about 30 min after the baby. Everything was great. No problems at all.
The baby is named Brooke Promise. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. which surprised me since she was so late and most of my others have been between 8-8 1/2 lbs.

Edited to add: My midwife just told me that she found out her scale was off, so Brooke actually weighed 8lbs. 1oz.

Wow!!! That is soooo awesome. Doesn't it seem that God has a sense of humor. You wait, and continue your preparations 13 days past your due date, and the baby is born before everyone is totally ready!

Due dates are just guides anyway so maybe she was actually on time...by her weight it suggests that she was just a normal weight for a new baby, not an overdue one! Otherwise she would have been a tiny baby, if she had been born on your "due date"

That's so cool! I'd be scared and I think Ron would pass out if he had to play midwife but like Leanna said maybe by number five it's easier.
