Some churches have schools attached to them...so to speak. You might give a call to the local Greek church in your area.

Other than that I dont know of any Orthodox schools for children.

Maybe others can be more of a help.

Peace,
Dismas

Dear Bambi:

There is also the option of homeschooling -- and there are sites for Orthodox homeschoolers on the Internet. I'd recommend homeschooling if you cannot locate an Orthodox School in your area. Please do contact an Orthodox Church as some are just starting their schools and perhaps you could help them start their school.

Yours in Christ our God,
Elizabeth

There is an Orthodox grade-school with a full curriculum in Wisconsin.

Thank you, Photini. I had heard of a school somewhere, but all the OCA websites didn't mention it and I didn't know where else to turn. Do you have children? Where do they attend school? (If you don't mind me asking)
Bambi
I do have children, but they go to public school. Unfortunately there isn't an Orthodox Church very near to me, much less an Orthodox School. I wish there was! or at least wish there was a way to have my children homeschooled. Luckily our public school here in this little town is pretty good.

I was in Houston last spring and discovered that that Greek Orthodox Church there has a school. (We were touring the cathedral, and just found out they had a school.) I can't remember the name of it, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find info about it.

It would be great if we could compile a list of all Orthodox grade schools in North America. I do not have children and am past the grade school stage, but I would love to send my children to one.

I believe there are several in northern Ohio, and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Texas (the one from the story about the vestments that miraculously survived a fire) has one as well.

All,
One thing that may cause confusion is that many larger Greek parishes that have Schools are actually "Greek schools" that are designed to transmit Greek culture to Greek children. Nothing wrong with this, it's just that it is primarily cultural rather than religious education.
The folks at OCS of NEO can surely point you to the sources of their start-up.
Eusebios.

Even then, it'd probably still be better than most schools.
