Visions of Fire

“I think it’s little more than a dream, sir…it appears as if they actually believe what they say to be true.”

Fires licked the sky, only to settle once more in their place amongst the trees. In the background a fierce wind blew, but it seemed as if they fire needed neither wind nor wood to fuel it. Onward and onward it burned, rushing forward into the inky blackness of night, gobbling up whole villages and leaping over rivers to destroy the green that lay on the other side. Suddenly all that could be seen was the raging fire, engulfing up everything in sight. The bright colors of red, orange, and yellow flickered at every moment, until finally all was darkness…all was burnt…nothing was ever the same again…

In a small, nomadic tribal clan in the far northwestern corner of the world a child awakes after a strange dream. Two days later they tell their parents, and five days after that the child is found dead in their sleep, a slit across their throat. The parents of the child run away from their clan to the nearest settlement, but unfortunately the people there can't understand anything that they are trying to say. Later, the parents seem to disappear in a swell of humanity but are truly hiding and biding their time to strike their clan back.

Three months later, in the large, sprawling city of Tritan, another child dreams the same dream. Unlike the first child, however, this one says nothing of the dream to anyone...at least, not to anyone who would blab it to everyone else in extreme worry. Soon a group of 10 know of it, and swear to keep it a secret to the majority of the public. However, they do tell one person: a sleuth who goes by the name "chief" and nothing else. Confused, "chief"says the above quote (very top) to his partner (who, for most of the RP, is nameless), and together they try to puzzle out what the dream could mean, while also trying to convince the one who had the dream that there were no negative connotations...

~---~

The italic section above is the dream that the two children had.

Interesting....sounds like it should be written into a novel :)

I'm in, as soon as I come up with something to post as a character. Are you angled towards kids more than adults or what?

~Star

Oh, it doesn't really matter if it's a kid or an adult.

Tag. Will check back next week.

Becky? Do I know you? From Kol's thread?
I don't think so...this is the first RP I've been in in a loooong time.

(just a warning: I'll be gone most of Saturday and most of Tuesday as well, but will be back all day Wednesday to check up on this)

Hmm... Um... I'm a stickler for details, so if you can give me a little more about this world, please?

Ok.

The first place for details: the "small, nomadic tribal clan in the far northwestern corner of the world"
--There are only two types of people in this world: the city, social types and those who are in the nomadic tribal clans.
--Those in the nomadic tribal clans fight often, so deaths are actually commonplace there, but for them to kill a "child" (here meaning a son or daughter) is basically unheard of.
--Because of the killings, there are only an average of three clans left. Since no one can keep track of all of them the number is not definite.
The location:
--The far northwestern corner of the world is actually as far north and west as they know; it's not even close to the top of their world.
--It's mountainous and forested; it's mainly a hunting clan.
--There's often cloud cover in the region, and there's also these extremely weird people who are often on their own and will be hostile to people who they don't know but can also be quite helpful.

The next place of details: "nearest settlement"
--The northwestern region is sparsely populated; the settlement was most likely a few scattered buildings with people living there illegally. --The northwestern region also speaks many languages. It's rare for a person to come across another (outside of their group) who speaks their language.

And: "large, sprawling city of Tritan"
--In the far northeastern corner of the world; the lower regions are mainly barbaric.
--The people here are self-centered and greedy, they often don't care about anything that happens that doesn't involve them
--The city itself is full of nearly 3 million people, and involves three districts: the social district (which is subdivided into other districts), the living district (again, subdivided), and the poor district (no subdivisions; the shopping and living areas are all just sprawled into one sad jumble)
--The subdivisions of the social district are as follow: (from outer regions of the district inward) Bank, Meat, Herb, Farmer (the smallest district), Theatre, and then the inner subdistrict is one large, ornate park.
--Living subdivision: (same order) The extremely rich, rich, and then middle-class.

If you need more in a specific area please tell. I didn't write everything because there are some things which are revealed later on in the RP. But I can send you something via PM if you need more :)
