• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

hello, my friends, I would like to talk about something that has made me upset. I have an addiction to shopping online. I mostly buy music cds, and, I go on sites like www.amazon.com, and, I feel like I cannot stop. I do this about once or twice a month, and, feel that I cannot live without he latest singers, and, music that is out there. I feel like It is not overpowering my life, but, I feel like I cannot stop when i say I am going to. I want to stop, but, not stop. And, what I mean by this is that I want to be able to control my spending online, and, do it less frequently than I already do. Can anybody, somebody please give me some friendly Christian advice as to how to do this without hurting the people I love? Thanks, and, GOD Bless!!!!!!!

CC, here is one suggestion: shop only with cash. Don't shop online at all, shop only with cash and only when you have the cash.

When you get paid, pay your bills with a checking account, but ask for the leftover money in cash at the bank. Divide your cash into envelopes for different shopping trips--food, clothes, etc. Also have an envelop for the money you are saving.

Make it a goal to have more money in savings every month. Use your savings for something you have planned in advance, just as you are planning now.

Wise use of money is a skill, I think, which can be learned. You are wise to realize you have an addiction, and to have taken steps against it. Good job!

What I will do is lock it in my lockbox, and, only take it when I feel I need to go somewhere to bu y things that I need. all I will do. And, I used paypal on the site I signed up for, and, that let me use my bank account. I started the paypal account for here mostly so i could be a site supporter. That's all I started it for.

Well, since that little slip up on the 5th, I have not bought anything since then. I have wanted to, but, you know what? I am not going to. I will reward myself with something if I can get through the next couple months. At the end of April, the group The Black Eyed peas are going to release their album The E.N.D, and, if I can make it through tilk thn, I am going to get it, along with a couple more of their albums, I am trying to collect. So, just continue to poray that I can make it through til then.
