  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Christ established a Church, not Churches and through baptism- all are joined to the body of Christ mystically. Christ's Church is both, not either/or. She is a visible, divine institution with a magisterium, the city built on a hill that can not be hidden, who has been given the keys of the kingdom to teach the faithful. She is also the invisible body of Christ. One who has been baptized in Christ is catholic even if they aren't Catholic.

Welcome, Codeman. :) If you will go to the top of the page and click on the FAQ's thread, there is a detailed explanation that Neal posted regarding this question. In the first post it will be under Misc. and it is the first option. :) Scripture references included. ;) Please come back and ask about what you don't understand after reading it.

Here's the direct link. But you might still want to browse that thread. :)

Can you explain this to me? Scriptural stuff would be great too! Thanx!! :)

Hi, Codeman.

The Bible, which is a collection of books (scrolls, actually) was compiled by the Catholic Church in the 4th century.

Find online (or in some archival libraries in Europe [Rome, Mount Athos..] or Asia (Saint Catherine Monestery at Moint Sinaii]) the earliest bound single tome, from Genesis to Revelation, and know that THAT tome was bound by the Church, which acknowledges the Chair of Peter.
